    I just found one like mine that sold on ebay for $300 back in June. It was cleaned up and painted.

    Yup,AC purple people eaters. They were known for crankshaft issues. But when they ran....look out!

    Also hard to get parts for them on the road.

    Thanks for the pics but everyone knows Allis Chalmers were Persian Orange not purple. They made ag equipment not truck engines. Or did they?

    Yes they made truck engines at one time.... Big Al was proof of that :).

    Allis Chalmers built all kinds of stuff back in the day. Big Al was their venture into the over the road truck engine market. First time I ever saw one was on US 212 in Montana,in a new Freightliner in transit,broke down. They would pull,big engine in the day. I think they used that same engine in some of their big farm tractors,too.
