I've suffered through a few of Dave Ramsey YouTube videos. Not my style.
How about this. I will do what works for me and you do what works for you. I do consider your inability to show me just exactly how your way to home ownership is more favorable to mine. I'm sure there are lots of people out there who would love for you to break it down in a real simple way so everyone can partake. After all, I am already a sucker on the hook for a mortgage. I am a lost cause. Do it for all others reading this, members and lurkers alike.

Because it's 2.39% and I get about 7 to 8 % return on the average, invested. How is that so complicated? The only reason I expect to pay it in full at renewal is I expect the rates to be in the 5 to 6% if I renew. I will owe about 36,000 and for that paltry sum I'd just as soon be done with it and own it free and clear. Now I have a bank account of my own. Use it as security for a line of credit or sell it should I need the cash. Simple.

Well, pray for me, I guess. I will do the same for you. In between my drinkin' and ####in'. If I can find the time.

Call Schneider Trucl Sales and try and buy a new truck outright with cash and see how far you get. Seriously - try buying things online with cash - I don't think Netflix accepts debit cards. There are several retailers like Sweetwaters now that won't take cash - only cards. Sure you can use a debit card, but you asked about CASH.

Credit ratings are used for other things besides loans - like auto and home insurance, landlords, utility companies. If you have a lousy credit score, be prepares to put down a deposit to get the lights turned on.

Having a credit card can be very useful. You don't HAVE to carry a balance or pay finance charges. You can pay if off every month (or every week). It's a secure way to pay for things that comes with fraud protection. You also get cash back or points. If you could reduce your total outlay by 2% a year, would you? If I use my Kohls card I get a 5% discount and double the Kohls cash. I get 5% back on every fuel and grocery purchase.

It also saves me time. I don't have to drive to the bank every week.

In short "cash is king " does not mean having good credit is a bad thing. It is a mindset of living within your means, paying attention to spending, and being responsible .

I think what gets a lot of people in trouble now days is that nobody really cares how much something really costs. All that matters to them is that they can afford the monthly payment. It’s the I need it right this minute attitude.
