I worked one of the giants of car hauling and they said they would provide fittings and equipment so we could crimp if we ever had a hose leak. They never did this and I never learned or had a problem as our equipment was near brand new. I bought a rig now with a lot of synthetic/plastic hydraulic hose. Can anyone recommend a good supply house and crimp tool to deal with older style synthetic or plastic hose leaks? If someone could post a link to a hand tool and fittings that would be the bomb. I am really concerned about this. My equipment is 07 and a lot of the hose looks pretty rough. Your help would be appreciated.

On the road I always used what are called field install fittings, aka repair fittings. You need to figure out which hoses you you have as these fittings are type specific. They install with two big wrenches, no crimp needed. I carried a air powered cut-off wheel to make clean cuts where the line breaks.
Any good hydraulic line shop will stock these fittings. I always has a mix of male and female and unions, so I can cover any possible combination of connectors. I never carried any portable crimp setup, nor did I have one in the shop.CaseRobert, BigBob410, Terry270 and 4 others Thank this. -
This is something like what Brian is talking about. It is designed for a blown line. Cut the bad part out and place the fittings on both ends and connect. This is a temporary fix in my opinion. The shop I use for most of my repairs has a press to permanently install fittings. It probably weighs 50 lbs or better.

The first fitting is left handed the inside fitting is right hand threaded the best lube for the inside fitting is gasoline believe it or not. Ripley
FishinTexas and stillwurkin Thank this. -
My 1974 359 Pete came from the factory with all aeroquip air lines.
I used to carry hose with me on the truck and re use the fittings over again when a line went bad.I glide 47, FishinTexas and stillwurkin Thank this. -
I carry a cordless impact with a set of deep sockets that fit the splice kit mentioned above, makes install a lot easier
