    This is an UPDATE on my old thread...

    Just got out of TANKER SCHOOL at the SUPERIOR TRAINING CENTER (not driving school) and graduated with a 98% top of my class.

    Superior is an OUTSTANDING company and really look out for their drivers. I have over 10 years experience and was a former WAL-MART PRIVATE FLEET DRIVER whom got displaced due to freight drop off (see my other thread FROM WALMART PRIVATE FLEET TO SUPERIOR CARRIERS ) for the full story.

    Any way this outfit is TOP SHELF all the way. EVERY DRIVER no matter experience level (no driver students) or TANKER EXPERIENCE has to go to the SUPERIOR TRAINING CENTER and must pass the school with at least an over all grade of 75% in order to join. You can be hired on with company but your terminal has to send you to the class within 90 days in which if you dont pass bye, bye, (which I like) not because folks dont get a job (never for that),but because they have STADARDS you meet them or you DONT PLAIN AND SIMPLE no bending the rules for any one.

    I like it also, because they look for career minded folks to do a job the right way and dont want any SLACKERS. They are also looking for well rounded and STABLE work histories . TANKER YANKER experience is reccomended but not required. (I had 0 TANK experience) and I am doing very well as you can see from my score .

    The class is very fun and very cool and is a blast. The key is taking notes which is a must. They do everything they can to help you and I mean everything. But they dont take notes for you. If you sleep in class or take 100 smoke breaks and miss information its on you. It is an OPEN NOTE test and 100% of the questions are from the class no hiden agenda questions etc. The class is also paid 100 per day plus mileage at 41.5 cpm to and from class. Hotel is provided meals are on you except BREAKFAST free at hotel, eggs, biscuits gravy waffles etc.. Your meals will be reiembursed up to 20 per day when you get back to your terminal so keep reciepts.
    My training week paid

    500.00 plus 560.00 mileage pay
    my gas cost was only 109.50
    food reciepts were at 93.00
    so roughly netted 900 plus for 5 /8 hr days at school

    They pay for the company side is GREAT

    $20.00 LOAD / UNLOAD
    $ 10.00 DROP/HOOK
    $ 10.00 BUNK PAY (each night)
    $20.00 tank wash pay
    $15.00 BORDER CROSS (each way so $30.00) plus hourly pay if you are in line over 1 hour
    $ 13.34 hourly pay
    LAYOVER PAY HOURLY (no cap) retro back to first 24 (seldom)
    34 HR RESTART PAY HOURLY (home weekly but from time to time)
    DISPATCH DELAY HOURLY
    BREAKDOWN PAY HOURLY
    DEMURIGE AFTER 2 HRS HOURLY PAY
    COMPANY HOTELS PROVIDED FOR LAYOVERS, BREAKDOWNS, RESTARTS, and still get bunk pay of 10 per day and hourly pay also
    FREE UNIFORMS
    FREE STD INS
    FREE LTD INS
    FREE 50K LIFE
    $75.00 per year allowance for PANTS
    ASSIGNED TRUCKS
    FAMILY BENEFITS ARE ONLY 37.50 PER WEEK FAMILY COVERAGE good insurance BCBS 80/20 ...DENTAL/ PERSCRIPTION
    401K with 50% match
    profit sharing
    41.5 cpm LOADED
    34.5 cpm MT

    SEE why I like them you can make money like you drove 3000 miles a week while only driving 1800-2100 with the activity pay .

    WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER ...

    I LOVE IT HERE..

    They also have a FOOD GRADE DIVISION CALLED CARRY TRANSIT
    same school (tank school) and pretty well same pay package

    38.0 cpm LOADED
    31.0 cpm MT
    10 per load and unload
    rest pretty well same

    HAZMAT

    SUPERIOR = REQUIRED
    CARRY = NOT REQUIRED

    Just thought I would pass it on.... If any one would like any info I will be glad to send you a # to a terminal near you just PM me due to board rules.
    Must live within 200 miles of a terminal .. just FYI but they have many...

    Good luck to all..... be safe ...:yes2557:

    I appreciate the info on supperior. I tried to get on with them about a year ago, I got approved by there safety department and took there physical and drug screen . They just didn't have a truck in the Savannah Terminal for me.
    I have got bit by the owner operator bug and looking into leasing on with a chemical outfit in a couple of years. I am leaning towards Miller right now. Will probably keep hauling gas for another year or so, then this time next year hire on with a chemical outfit. Hopefully It will work out with Superior. If not i'll go work with some scrub outfit like CTL or Mckenzie

    Thanks for the info kentucky24. I was about to rule them out due to not having my hazmat anymore. I droped it due to cost and the lack of not hauling it. But since you talked about there food grade side im back in and looking them over. :biggrin_2553: I will give them a call Monday and see what they have to say. Keeping all my options open untill i see whats right for me. Thanks again and im out.

    Well all I can say to that Ky, Is SWEEEEETTTT, going to call him back on monday morn.:) dont guess that was you running north on 441 into nc on thur. then. Since it has been widened it is used as a short cut by alot of trucks. Not a bad haul either. Couple of hard little pulls but not to bad. Thanks for info KY24.
