This is where I DONT want this thread to go. I don't need a lecture on my reasoning because you don't know me or what I'm about.

I am a company driver and it stinks. I'm willing to put money into being an O/O.

I'm not a latina, no, I'm blonde, blue-eyed, and I've been out there with enough guys to know I could get a ride anytime I want one but that's not the deal I'm looking for either.

    1) Join OOIDA
    2) 25-30K Operating Capital
    3) Find Truck and Trailer
    4) Have OOIDA get all your permits, authority, etc in order
    5) Find and activate Insurance (OOIDA Can Probably help)
    6) Buy Laptop and wireless card
    7) Go Truckin!!

I tried to use OOIDA to obtain authority and they were useless . They couldn't even tell me where to get full insurance coverage in my state . I could find better rates for all the "services" they provide with someone else .
The best thing to do is get your own authority finding at least a couple of base customers . Buy your equipment to suit your customers' needs .

Stay open to critique. It's not personal. I get plenty myself. It's all helpful one way or another.

I had never used OOIDA to get authority or insurance, but they talk a good game. I know there are places you can get all your permits all in one place.

i am also thinking about buying a truck this summer. but as a company driver i am trying to save money way i can. the truck i drive now has a built in fridge. i put a microwave in it. just recently i bought a charcoal grill and a mini-freezer. i have not eaten in a truckstop since new years. i save a ton of money because everything i need i can find at walmart. less you spend in the truckstop the better.
