    Oh man sounds like this post is winding down. That's a shame it's been so amusing.
    Can a lp work? Sure it can, for some.
    But it appears for most it can not.
    However there are countless amounts of people who succeed. That we never hear about. Like the guy at a smaller company who's owner sold him the truck, instead of trading it. Maybe because they don't work for the large corps that we all no. That chew them up and spit them out. Or possibly because they are like a big bunch of guys I no, in the moving/ trade show/ eletronics/ specialized freight business. There in a different segment of the trucking business. And dont even no ttr exists.
    In any event it's been entertaining so thanks guys.

    I would say the ones working of percentage appear to have a higher success rate than the $1.15 + fsc crap ala Prime, England, Swift, PTL, Hirschbach..........

    I'll tell you the number 1 reason people don't make it. It's been said here a few times.
    It's a lot like work.
    Everyone wants the O/O money with the company driver responsibilities.

    Well that goes against the law of physics, you don't get something for nothing.

    That's not entirely true. It's more like;

    Everyone wants O/O earnings with company driver capital investment.

    My goal since entering the owner operator arena 3 years ago, was and is to be able to work less, not more. Fortunately, I figured out a way of doing it.

    OTR driving and chasing miles to keep up, sucks.

    Being away from home 2 to 4 weeks at a time, sucks.

    Driving across the plains in the middle of the winter, sucks.

    PERIOD!

    Others mileage may vary, carry on ;-)

    I agree with you percentage based is the way to go but your list of carriers who are/aren't percentage based is inaccurate.
