I was going over some highway bridge in Arkansas that was very bumpy and I guess my back couldn't handle all the yanking. Felt a couple small tears, back has been a little sore since then. I feel like I have to move off the back rest of the seat when going over bumps so I don't hurt it again.

I feel really bad to laugh at other people's injuries on the job but when I read the title I was thinking "That's why you have to do no touch freight." Then I read that this guy injured himself IN THE DRIVERS SEAT while driving and he didn't hit anything. I've never heard of that happening.

I hope that its something that heals quickly man but I gotta be honest, your OP gave me a chuckle. I was NOT expecting that.

It happens all too easily. I had a driver who hurt his back climbing out of the truck, he was off work for 3 months. He said that he didn't do anything else to it, was just climbing out and snap. I myself am moving slower than usual lately, and not working too hard. Threw a chain across the trailer last week, nothing that i haven't done thousands of times before. This time i tore something in my right shoulder and have to take it easy on it. Most of my time this week has been spent in the passenger seat while the rookie drives. I must say she is really impressing me. Such a simple job today and so short I let her go alone. No nasty roads, and only picking up a D6 and delivering it. She was back in the yard only 9 hours later, and my tired old shoulder got a rest.

Ok, get a big body pillow and get it between your seat and back any way you can. If it's long enough you can fold it over. Find a cushion at least two inches thick or even the sheepskin type (Beads over it for airflow and massaging) would be a alternative.

Get yourself to a doctor capable of doing Xrays in a clinic somewhere. If you get sharp stabbing or unable to have full range of motion, you visit the ER. You only have one spine.

Hang in there. Do whatever you can to get some heat on there. Even if you have to fill a couple of stanley thermoses with hotwater from truckstop coffee source, and use a pharmacy based store rubber bladder to hold that liquid on the rough spots on your muscles as it slowly cools to you as you rest. Do whatever you can to keep it moving, even if it means taking a slow walk around the rig carefully going through your range of motion. Hopefully without a hitch or stab in it.

But you're describing instances of a driver being injured during times OTHER than driving. I know drivers get hurt climbing in and out of the truck and of course are hurt all the time with tarps, etc. I'm saying I'd never heard of a driver injured WHILE IN THE SEAT DRIVING and not having been in an accident.
