Drivers don't look like drivers anymore

Whats up with the pagamas? We saw a whole family once of course at Walmart. But what’s worse is the drawers hanging out. Even grown Men walking around with their pants on the ground. They need to bring back the wedgee put an end to that. Lol

I was standing in line holding 2 white monster energy drinks (2 for 4.25) why not?
Old timer cow boy boots hat jeans but over weight. Here I stand kind of in shape tank top shorts and flip flops. And he goes ( give it 2 years you’ll be right where I am) I looked at him confused... like did he just assume how long I’ve been driving? Then I ask why is that? He says something about everyone gaining weight after their first year........ then I hit him with the at the time I’ve been driving for 8 year but thanks for the constructive criticism lol. Even now days I wear t shirts hats shorts and sometimes flip flops.. after I slipped off the steer tire I decided it was time to west shoes around the truck outside

 

I don't think I have been to THAT particular stop. There were however two old style 76's in Stoneyridge US 23 south of the tollroad. and one of those.. I guess for lack of a better way to describe the situation in there, the people were very good. The women in particular. I had a steady run through there for Heinz going to Chambersburg or east, I'll have to look it up. Excel Break bulk was the customer. Anyway the Women I think were going to end up marrying and have a bunch of kids with a little house somewhere up there. One day not too long after that truckstop had to close. The one next to it closed later. (The easiest way to tell the two apart is one had the famous moonscape truck lot where it's possible to have a entire 18 wheeler into one of the craters deep enough to where you WILL NOT get out so you tried your best not to get into them.

I have a question whats a typical driver supposed to look like? personally i don't care so much about how they look, cause looks can be deceiving, its how that person operates there tractor that really counts as they say you can tell just how honest a person it's not by what they put on there income tax returns its what they have the dial on their bath room scales adjusted too.

 

I joined just so I could comment on this thread. I'm 24, been around trucks since I was a kid.

I drive a tri axle dump truck for a local construction company here in my hometown. When I'm driving I wear my blue jeans, CSA cowboy boots, ball cap that either has a machine brand on it or a truck brand, or the company logo, and either my reflective safety shirts (button down style of course) or a normal cotton or flannel shirt with a safety sweater depending on season.

My shirts are always tucked in and I always try to look professional. I take pride in my job and my truck, and especially who I work for.

It makes me sick to pull in to a truck stop for a 10-100 or a quick bite and see pajamas and flip flops and sweatpants roaming the truck lot. Says a lot to me about that drivers motivation and attitude.

Being a local driver who on a good day racks up 400KM in a day, I get where you guys are coming from with being comfortable on the road, but why do drivers today have to look like vagabonds in public?
