Truckstops don't have anywhere to take a long hot bath.

I'm partial to a good long soak myself, and have yet to find one on the road.

I mean, most MOTELS don't even have a decent tub anymore.

So if you find any good, big bathtubs for truckers to use on the road, please post 'em on the forum.

Anything that starts out nice for truckers to use is usually ruined rather quickly. I wouldn’t post it

I am from tucson. I am also an older lady, but will be teaming with my hubby. I liked southwest but hds is a classier school and they are accredited and slightly cheaper. Better equipment and instructors too. Of the three schools in tucson, I chose them. Trucking can be a dirty job but gloves can keep your hands clean. Trucking isn't all moving down the road, there are times you are sitting waiting on a load, or taking a 10 or 34 and can get your nails done. The showers aren't too bad, go to a couple truck stops there and ask them to let you look in the showers to see what they're like. Truckers don't mind if you buy them dinner or coffee and chat with them sometimes. Read these forums, there are a lot of female drivers, and lots of "drop and hook" loads that only require you to couple and uncouple. That part I think you might have problems with is passing the pretrip inspection part of the test, because it does require being able to identify and inspect parts of the engine and brakes and tires. Gloves will help keep your hands clean. Lots of companies hire new grads too. You can stay at hotels or whatever on your 34, but you probably wont want to spend that much daily, and you will be assigned your own truck usually, so you can fuss it up how you want and make it comfy.

Little America in AZ and WY (NOT Cheyenne, though) have large bathtubs in all the shower rooms.
Some are deep and narrower, some are deep and wide. I always ask for the wide tub, and some of the people actually know which rooms have them.

I don't have shower credits with them, but $11 is still the best price anywhere, for the best shower room anywhere.

If you are an OTR driver there won't be much loading/unloading. Drop and hook is just as it sounds. You drop your empty trailer and hook to the loaded one. No mess, no fuss, no broken anything.

While you are in training you will learn what it is to do a pretrip. It is not usually a messy thing, although you may be doing it in the rain and snow, and in mud if you are that unlucky.

There are no showers for women, there are only showers. Company terminals aside, and I have never seen in there. I don't shower at terminals in any case.

And aside from what another poster said, you won't have to spend your break time outside a shipper/receiver unless you choose to do so.
I might NEED to once every 2-3 years, but it is that seldom.
I plan my trips to assure that I can park where I want, so that I have the facilities I want/need. If a pplan comes in that prevents me from doing so, I turn it down.
I choose what I do, and how I do it. All it takes is a little planning.

The test does not involve getting dirty.
It is pointing at things and saying what you are looking for and the state thereof. I didn't even have to actually check the oil level. Even if I did, all I would need is a paper towel to keep from getting dirty.

Sometimes you simply don’t have a choice whether or not you stay at a truck stop or not. Not all places give you the option to turn down a load. If you want to maximize your time and money running OTR, you’ll do only 10 hour breaks and make your logbook work.

My '10 hour breaks' are normally 12 hours minimum. 10 hours simply is not enough time for me.
And my company does give the options, in a couple ways, to avoid certain loads.

I really do not care about 'maximizing my time and money'. I care about maximizing my comfort while also making the money I need.
