Looking for a Used Dry Van. I see alot of Spring ride Dry van for sale. I dont see as much as Air Ride for sale. Should i buy a Spring ride or just get the Air Ride??? Trying to get some information before i make my decision.

Get spring, otherwise you have to deal with changing airbags .

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Well, I personally wouldn't have a spring ride. Pretty rough ride. That's just my opinion though ;-)

I’ve pulled spring and air ride. The new spring rides aren’t bad. For example ALL Xtra leasing dry vans are spring. However, when I went to buy my own I bought air ride. The overall general ride is better and you get less freight shifting in transit. Which could mean less damage.

As far as replacing air bags, that’s extremely rare and not a big deal anyway.

Edit: I have a 2004 53 footer with air ride that I would sell. All new shocks, shoes, drums, tires, and rear doors. We keep it as a backup and for local but it would do whatever job you needed.

I looked for about 3 weeks for an air ride, before I finally found one that worked for me... I was tempted to go spring, because they're cheaper, but a couple of customers I have lined up, want Air Ride, doesn't matter that they really don't need it for their freight, but I don't want them to have any excuse to not load me...Plus like Scooter said, ride is important to me also.

Air ride defiantly will provide you a better ride. The reason why you see a lot of spring ride on the market is mega companies buy lots of spring ride trailers for their trailer pools. Its because less maintenance issue with dropped trailers. You never know how long a trailer will sit between loads. Drivers don't look to see if the trailer bags air up. Then they drag it down the highway and wear holes in air bags.
