Hi, I'm Tuco. I'm new on this forum. I'm starting my Class A CDL training course on March 5th. I've been a School Bus Driver for the last 9 years. I figured I'd better join this site because I'm sure I'll have some question, and this, obviously, is the best place to get answers!
Here's what else I do in addition to driving:
I'm a musician & song writer. Punk, metal, classic country, surf. Yeah, it's a strange combination. I'm really into music. I even used to be the manager of a music store. My main instrument is the bass guitar, but I do most of my writing on guitar. My current and past bands include Filthy Few (punk-spazzobilly), Nasferatu (metal), Diabolic Possession (metal), and I even toured the U.S. a couple times playing bass for Thor (80's metal/rock legend)! Plus I've done studio work with a couple other bands.
ArtCars. ArtCars are cars that have been artistically embilished/decorated/painted by an artist. I've created a few ArtCars. You can see pictures of them in my profile. My first one "Wealth & Hell-Being" was a 79 Lincoln Continental that I covered in pennies. I welded huge fins on the back & put large bull horns just above the windshield. The second one "Triptosaurus" was a Plymouth Sundance. It was covered in small toys, trinkets, & doodads. It had a dinosaur spine that ran the length of the vehicle. And, the third one is my motorcycle "Boneshaker". It has a coffin side-car. The gastank & fenders are covered in pennies. It has a suice shift that's a (fake) human spine. All the lights are skulls.
Hmmm, what else? I am a concert/event organizer. I do the annual Omaha Zombie Walk and tons of concerts. I do a quarterly magazine "Nebraska Metal Scene Magazine". I love doing crossword puzzles, & playing Scrabble & Risk.
Well, I guess that's way too much for now

Hey and Howdy Tuco! Hummm you already seem to have a plate full and you want to drive... Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you found the time to spend a few moment of your time with us. I'm thinkin' you have some wild stories you could tell... I am left wondering why on earth you want to get into truckin'? I would be very interested in finding out what it is that you want to learn? I see you as a very romantic type and hope your image of trucking is not what you have seen on TV or the movies. It is very far from that! Again Welcome and I am looking forward to reading some of your adventures.
Tuco Thanks this. -
hmmm Tuco boy you are going from one end of the work planet to the other end wow....lol well best of luck oh yea almost forgot....WELCOME!
Tuco Thanks this. -
Nah, I don't think I have any delusions as to what the trucking industry is like. I certainly didn't base my decision to drive on Smokey & The Bandit! -
By the way, my class is going great! I'm doing very well academically & driving. There's 15 students in our class and, so far, I'm the top academic student in the class. My plan, from the start was to be in the top percentage of my class, thus making me much more recruited! Being the top student in my class is an added bonus because I'll get a certificate that'll go in my DAC and will look good on my resume.
Pretty much all we've been doing (as far as driving goes) is backing. Straight backing, alley docking, slalom, etc. I'm getting real good at going backwards! I just need to learn how to drive forwards now!Monday we're finally going to start driving on the streets.
