I ran the overhead on my 5EK CAT last week. I used a local oil distributor that carries a synthetic house blend(receipt on earlier post). My point......, no matter how much I kept wiping of my hands and feeler gauges, the slickness of the residual oil made it more difficult to run the adjustment. Conclusion; the synthetic blend, or full synthetics do there job with protection. @Cowpie1 has several good threads on oils.

Total price was $458.70. My tech was a conscientious older guy. Did a great job and answered all my questions. Should I tip him? If so how much.

Isn’t doing 20,000 mile oil changes with full synthetic a waste of money?

Depends on how you run...... most engine manufacturers go by how much fuel used....

These are severe duty cycle changes, not a typical loafing otr truck.

Get a fumoto dude, take the risk of down time to zero with one.

It's not that hard. Torque wrench. The oil pan is a low torque number. 33iirc. Special 36 mm socket. Fill the fuel water separater all the way up and start pumping.

I have watched the TA tech do it like 5 times.

    Regular oil.
    Either Delo or Rotella.
    20k or before.

Same across the board whether it’s an 07 engine or a 17 emissions engine.

Edit: All filters on same interval as well as grease minus 5th wheel gets more often.

You guys go 20k without greasing?
I'm going way overboard with 3-4k grease and 10k oil I guess.
But then again I have a dinosaur 1996
