Thanks for the kind words fellows, was kinda getting a big head till Joetro's comment about my age brought me down to earth.
Really doesn't have any bearing on the issue being discussed here, but a VERY liberal, VERY controversial black judge (I do not believe there is such a thing as an African-American), was again on our local paper's metro front page. Seems this fellow threw out evidence from a traffic stop/drug seizure. (2833 Soma pills, 3708 hydrocodone, 100 Vicodin, 1436 & 1/2 (a half... wth?), Xanax, and 5 grams of pot), along with 12 bottles of cough syrup containing codeine. The pills were in prescription bottles issued to 33 different people, (who were not in the car, snicker). After being stopped for speeding 69 in a 60, and drifting across the white line four times with the state trooper behind him. The trooper did not write a speeding ticket because after hearing conflicting stories about their origin and destination, and noting their nervous behaviour, he secured verbal permisson to a car search, where he found the drugs, along with rolling paper on the car floor. Running a check, he also found that the driver, claiming to be from New Orleans, and Pontiac, Mich. had an outstanding warrant for drug trafficing in Mich.
After issuing his rulling, the judge stated that he doubted the officers motive for pulling the suspect over, because no speeding ticket was issued.
This fellow is a true Prince. I believe he has single handedly put more criminals back out on the street than all the crooked lawyers in our parish.

I'm always here for ya!

Your post poses a question: What are the safeguards in place for handling situations like this where the judge is an obvious hack?droy Thanks this. -
Good question, this fellow is constantly at odds with the DAs office, AND other judges, even once refused to recuse himself from the drug trial of one of his son's girlfriend. Had to be forced off the case. -
I have never worked there.
-
Tell that to a criminal.
-
I assume you are posting about the last sentence in my post. I do not have to tell it to a criminal. I drive more local now running days from yard to yard or yard to rig.
My load terminal is a Halliburton port. This is a guarded port with no weapons signs posted and requires a TWIC card. The penalty for carrying a weapon is not worth the gamble.
The point is that I have just as much right--NOT-- to carry as someone else does to carry.

I think the point of the thread was for everyone, not special drivers in special situations. I've learned a lot here.

Just FYI I saw this thread about carrying a gun in a CMV..First of all its illegal. If you feel the need to carry one be prepared to go to prison. There are no permits out there to carry one in a CMV..I did'nt read every response but I was in law enforcement for 5 years before I got my CDL so just throwing in my 2 cents and trying to save someone from going to prison good luck out there and stay safe.
PS. I did like the response about carrying a flare gun..GOOD IDEA!!
and its not illegal!! -
OHHHH BOY, here we go again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ken Thanks this. -
Sorry to say, but you're full of crap.. I've been pulled into a coup and I told the officer that I had a pistol next to my seat.. He asked to see my CCW and thanked me for informing him that it was there..
Again, as asked over and over and over.. Show us a law prohibitting it..
