So I tried something new posting here seeking advice. Let me combine my previous three posts into this one

I'm 48 yrs old and I'm to old to play b.s. games with these lying companies. I've lost both parents to cancer and the companies I worked for wouldn't even send me to CA before they pasted. I had explained to both companies at time of hire the situation and was told it wouldnt be a problem. When time came it was. Lies and B.S. from company 2 previous employers.

Started with Swift after getting CDL. Got stuck sitting in New England for 2-3 days at a time for 2mo. straight. Wanted to run and couldn't. Mileage went from 2400-3000 a week to 1500 a week pay cut in half for 2 mo. Nothing done just another number to them, another previous employer.

Went to Total Transportation of MS. Had only 4 mo. driving experience. Had two minor preventable accidents with a month. Asked for help, even volunteered to go out with trainer on multiple occasions. Company safety manager stated he forgot I asked for help. Another previous employer

Went to SRT. Was lied to from day one was only running 1200-1500 miles a week and sitting for 24-48 hrs between loads. More B.S., lies and just another number. Another previous employer

Dart was a decent company. Made great money but another family member diagnosed with cancer and dart freight network doesn't reach to CA. Still have Bill's that need to get payed, so another previous employer.

I understand loads need to be picked up and delivered. That's the job. I went all the way from TX to CA without AC. When investor doesn't work and I use a CPAP for sleep apnea and it's a DOT issue now it's a problem. Being told company will install driver provided inverter by recruiter, then told company only installs their own inverter and I have to pay for it over $500, don't have that laying around. More B.S. lies, more games, just another number, another previous employer.

Was told by Schnieder recruiter that I would run all 48 states solo. Got there was told I had to team drive for that. I don't team but was put down as hired for teams. Another previous employer.

So now with JB Hunt. On acct that can deliver to all 48 states but requires being in a manual. Only was in a manual at school so I have no experience in one. Told recruiter that and was told that is fine could go with trainer if needed. Road evaluation done in Automatic put in manual and tearing up transmission.
I'm not quitting JB Hunt but I don't need any more accidents. Trying to deal with this in company and not getting any help on issue. What do I do since now I'm just feeling like another number that the company doesn't care whether I'm comfortable driving or not. I don't want to damage their equipment or have an accident but I need to stay working to pay bills.

That's what I meant by being just another number. That's what I meant about being given b.s. lies. I ain't playing games, want to be safe and not getting any help from company. Maybe response of choose another profession is right, just to old to do anything else and have to many Bill's that need to get paid. Have a family to support and a family member dying of cancer. That's what I meant on finding the right company. Before you all judge me, know the whole story.

sorry for the loss of your folks, and another family member, but this IS trucking 101....there WILL BE B.S., that WE ALL PUT UP WITH, and your (really) constant job hopping is NOT helping you..

i think you want a perfect world, well frankly, not here in trucking.

no one see's you, heck, i don't see you as a 48 year old man, that is stable now as it is, and you think you got the right to complain..?????

so what you sat for a few days, heck, we all sat for a few days from time to time.

i cannot see where this type of work is for you, you really need a more structured job, like a 9 to 5'er...

Just passing by, x1Heavy and 201 Thank this.

1st of all, I didn't return your PM because you seemed kind of nasty. Of course I'm not perfect, and I been lied to more than the truth,( in trucking and after a while, you know what is BS, or should, anyway) and yes, I did have a family to support. The problem here, is you are riding the wave of all these bottom feeder companies, they're all going to promise you the same thing. If you are unhappy with these companies, for heavens sake, don't quit and go to another. It's going to be the same stuff, different shovel. You want bennies and 8 hour shifts, go with a big freight hauler line haul. You do the same thing everyday, and about the most predictable ( and boring) job in trucking.
I too am sorry for your losses, but if you pick this line of work, many things go out the window, and no, they can't get you back for a funeral, or whatever, it's not that kind of job. Truck comes 1st, everything else 2nd, if you can't handle that, it will be uphill for you all the way.

    x1Heavy and buddyd157 Thank this.

So in other words be a robot, forget your family, lose everything your house car and your self respect and just pick up and deliver loads. Screw DOT regulations and your health as well.

Maybe your right edited this type of work

I don't think it's a grim as that, yes, you will have to make sacrifices. Cooked my marriage, but that was after 16 years of trucking putting a roof over their heads. I missed a lot of stuff, stuff I can never get back, but I worked for good companies, that DID appreciate me, and I bent over backwards for them, on time too. For me, it was a job where I could be outside, make my own decisions, and I was able to leave these holes that I delivered to or picked up from. It's still all those things, better in fact, you have to decide if it's for you. One thing I learned, you have to conform to trucking, as it won't conform to you.

you don't seem to understand....it's a JOB.....pure, plain and simple....you WILL BE away from home, and the company cannot always accommodate you on short notice, they need (on average) 2 weeks notice that you need to be home, even then, if you are 3,000 miles away, they cannot get you home overnight, unless they fly you, and you will have to (in most cases) reimburse them for that expense.

YOU CHOSE a job with sacrifices to be made by YOU, and YOUR FAMILY,,and you accepted those sacrifices at application approval and orientation time....

you simply cannot have your cake and eat it too in this industry, with those OTR companies, and job hopping, frankly, i'd not hire you either, as i would invest money in YOU and you fly the coop..???

    no way....

this is ALL ON YOU, not the industry....

you could have asked for a personal leave of absence too, did you know that..???

then you could have been home when each parent died.....

then again, how long would that leave have been.>??

you could have requested runs closer to your home, did you know that..??

again, it's all on you, not the 24,000 former employers you had.

I did give advance notice starting at 2 mo, 6 weeks, 4 wks etc. I know some things will be sacrificed but not everything. And no at that time real early on I didn't know what I do know.

Obvious nobody in today's society has a care about anybody other than themselves. This used to be an industry where drivers stuck together. Until you walk a mile in my shoes don't judge me. Go through what I did and do something else. You're either an uncaring, selfish SOB or a liars. Which is it
