We all know how TQL does.

From calling for your truck to dead head hundred miles away to saying "load got canceled" and so many other excuses, cause they found someone cheaper for 50 bucks. SHAKE MY HEAD

When I dispatched, sure enough it has happened to me.

I never again called on ANY TQL loads.

One time I came to the office, and my phone was blown up by a TQL broker.

He asked for my truck to go about 300 miles dead head.. and he had a great rate. But for the previous event, I wanted more money, and he gave me it.

He sent me a "confirmation", which I noticed didn't have any times, or PO #s or locations.

See with TQL 90% of the time when the load is FOR SURE they send a "dispatch sheet" with all the information.

I called the broker back, told him how TQL works, and if he wanted my truck, I needed the "dispatch sheet", and also I needed a "TONU (truck order not used)" of a $1000.00 on the confirmation.

Every since then, TQL loads were really good, and if they didn't give me that, I simply would not send out a truck, and that was it. I went with more better brokers.

Anytime you book a load with these guys, ask a MINIMUM of 500$ TONU, request a DISPATCH SHEET, and also tell them your driver will be ready within 2-3 hours (cause he is held up at a receiver at a walmart DC or something)..which will cover you on two things.

Driver getting there, and knowing the locations, compared to TQL "dispatching your driver", also time for your driver to get there on a confirmed rate while these jack offs try to find someone for cheaper thinking they have time. If all fails, TONU is there, and if they are sure that the load is yours and good to go they have no REASON for a TONU. (forget them sayin what if load get canceled, let them take the chance instead of YOU).

I thought the best tip for TQL is not to let them know you exist.

TQL has a lot of LOADS. I spent times on the phone, especially with one guy when Georgia was HOT an they were paying over 4 bucks a mile to upper northeast, he wanted my truck to go to detroit for 1.80 a mile produce. I told him no, and he was so MAD, that he actually told me "you have the upperhand now, but when that dies down youll see. You're being greedy blah blah"..I simply told him, this is what rates are going for and Im not going to detroit where the market is dead for 1.80 a mile..He basically had this anger, and told me why do I or my driver DESERVE to earn more than 3 bucks a mile.. i asked him why when then market is bad out of places, should we not deserve more than stinking 1.10 a mile that barely covers fuel and tolls..it was a long agruement, and i sarted posting multiple trucks in that area so he couldnt see any others, he was really mad lol. But if you learn their system and request certain things, youll get your way. Especially when they cancel on guys, for cheaper guys, and a guy cancels on them for whatever reason, you just basically throw them a price out of the world, with requests of TONU and dispatch sheet, if they don't like it, like you said, you don't exist haha

From what little experience we have, I can say that we got set up with them like 3 months ago, and each time i look at load boards they're always there, feels like they're everywhere. So i don't think a day goes by when i'm looking for a load where i don't make 3-4 calls on TQL loads. So the last time i called they actually gave a half decent rate, and then informed me that they can't give it to me cause it was a high value load and i've never hauled a load for them, i said it can't be i must've called on 100s of TQL loads, but after double checking myself sure enough every SINGLE time their rate was always so crappy that we never took their loads. I know some of you claim to get good rates from them, but not here. To the point where i' pretty much gave up on them and will call on everybody else before waisting time calling TQL and quoting 2x what they offer. One time a guy actually laughed at me and then said "no really how much do you want for it"?

We run a fair amount of TQL loads, none of which are under $2. They've never cancelled a load on us, but in the beginning we stood firm on our rate bids, turning down several loads. We also run their freight like it's expedited, as we do with most all our loads. So we stood out when we ran 2300 mile loads and were sitting at the consignee 3 days early. Basically giving them a reason to use us as a core carrier, and to pay the rates associated with such.

You're wasting your time calling these guys 99% of the time. Even if your truck is posted and they call you it's a waste of time more often than not. Some guys obviously have made some decent connects there but I'm not one of them. There is some good advice in here in how to handle them and their shenanigans. Or as always you can just avoid using them altogether.

Forgive my ignorance, I'm new to the dispatching world (6 months). Up until now, I've had a decent experience with TQL. I'm a dispatcher for a owner-operator. Back in September, my driver picked up the load and 30 mins into his drive, his truck broke down. We had the load towed back to the shipper at our own expense. Broker told me he was able to get the load assigned to another driver. Now fast forward to now, I completed a TQL load. My invoice from the factoring company was rejected due to "possible claim". I contact TQL and learn that they are charging me for $3600 for "repower". So now I owe them $600! Claims rep advised there were no charges for damaged goods, only for repower.

I looked over my rate confirmation and didn't find anything regarding "repower" charges. Is this a normal practice? It feels like TQL is double dipping here.

Your tips and comments are greatly appreciated.

How did you invoice TQL for this load, exactly? That may frame some of the discussion.

I didn't invoice them for the load back in September. But just two weeks ago, I booked a load with TQL. Load was delivered on time, with no issues. I submit that invoice to my factoring company and it was rejected due to possible claim. So I contacted TQL to get more details of this "possible claim". I find out it's regarding the load back from September. So they're holding my check for the recent load and charging me $3600 for repower of the load back in September. They said that because I couldn't deliver the load, they had to find a different carrier to do it. He sent me a copy of the rate con with the new carrier info redacted.

So now, I'm gonna loose the $3000 for the load I did two weeks ago and I have to pay balance due of $600.
