So I talked with the oncle from mz grandmother in law, he had his own trucking company! I checked in at the motel and he called me, he said don’t go with C.R. England or swift they are the worst company. He said to pay my own school and then get a job. I’m really confused

Yea hes talking about going to a local school where you can pay money and get your cdls in like 4 weeks.. I done that and it costed me $2900... I don't know the price now... If you did it that way then you could go get a job with someone and if you didn't like them then you could leave.

Well I went to Werner then and did ok... You gotta start somewhere man... You might have to eat a little crow starting out.. I did and it sucked but it got better over time... You can't start at the top with 0 experience....

I know that. So is it better pay my own school and than apply? C.R. England has only automatic trucks and that sucks too

Yes it is better to pay for your own school and then start applying to places. If you go to a school with automatic trucks then you will have automatic only on your CDL... You don't want that... Werner was not a bad deal for me then. @Chinatown might know some good starter companies once you get done with your school...

Okey thank you. Why didn’t they tell me that the tractors are only automatic?

I don't know... Most mega companies don't care about drivers, they just wanna fill the trucks with bodies to cover the freight so they can make more money...

Cr England is a 100% automatic company now along with others that’s why he said automatic only. If that’s your only option u can do that and on your off time practice in a manual to get that restriction off. Company’s are starting to switch to full autos but it will still be years till all the company’s are full autos

Read where Jim Palmer Trucking is now switching from 10 speed stick shifts to all automatics.
I think they still use stick shifts in their cdl school.
I pulled tankers coast to coast with an automatic and loved it. After that I didn't want anything to do with stick shifts.
