Solar activity is an 11 year cycle going from solar maximum to solar minimum and back.
In the minimum cycle things tend to cool down throughout the entire solar system. Nothing new, even if you have not noticed it before.

We do, however, live next to a variable star.
Our sun is always changing the way it does things, and sometimes it swings more in one direction than the other.

I'm hoping to be alive when the sun darkens.
    It is in the Bible.

It should be an event that has the sun nearly totally covered with sunspots, so its output of light is greatly diminished.
It would make for the greatest solar max possible, and possibly the hottest year ever.

And, it won't be 'man made' anything.
It will simply be a phase our star is going through.

Well before our star, like others, dies, it will expand engulfing us and all of the other planets in our solar system before it collapses into a dwarf. This is why I always say no need to be scared of cremation, we are all going to be burned to a crisp sooner or later..

There were a couple Stargate episodes that touched on that subject.
Valid point, although unlikely to occur in the near future.

I stopped by the Dunsmuir, Ca scales and went in and asked about how they determine wind-road conditions. They immediately made me do a level one and UA.

    Hahahahaha.

The officer said that CalTrans makes the decision. It’s based on a variety of information. As far as he knows (20 years doing it) there is no set criteria for how they restrict or place warnings. It depended on reports from NWS, CHP and caltrans workers. He did say he appreciated that it was one of the few things that they let them still apply common sense to.

Other than that they were guessing like we do. To reiterate I only talked to one guy. He seemed knowledgeable but beyond that I have no clue.
