Well I can safely say that this week I have run legal. I had all back to back loads and I am really close to being out of hours on my 70 but so far all is good. I have another question. How strict are the audits? For instance for a fuel stop if I make it at 4:00 but forget and log it at 4:15 am I going to get busted for that? The company says as long as we are within an hour thats ok.

Infrequent minor discrepancies like that shouldn't create a problem . Habitual offenses will cause problems . Being off 15 minutes on a fuel stop shouldn't affect working within the 14 hour limit or driving over 11 hours . What they watch for is showing fueling earlier than you did to try to make it appear you had less time driving than you actually did or similar falsifications .

    Hi guy :biggrin_255:

When I was new with Swift, they audited me 2x in the first 3 months solo! They match fuel receipts, scale tickets, BOLS, toll receipts.....anything with a time stamp on it can/will be checked against your log sheet. Oh, the prepass gives you away too, they check that. I haven't been audited since so maybe they dig into the new guys more than the experienced ones. It seems most companies are trying everything they can to trim the number of drivers they have, but without paying unemployment. Any reason they can find to fire a driver, and any new ones they can make up, it's just a tough time.

I run legal, haul refer, with sitting in docks for 3 4 hours, sometimes 10:). Learn to use the split sleeper berth provision, and you can usually get to that next load and get it picked up, then shut down for a 10 hour break.

Example, in Virgina, no truck parking, so I stop in Raphine, 120 miles from my drop at 1am. Start my clock at 10:30pm, drive 2 hours, check in, back in, go to sleeper berth, at 4am, knock on tractor, get your paperwork, and you must leave. Pickup is 12 miles away, at 7am, drive over drop my empty, logging 15 minutes, park in the bob tail section, go to sleeper berth. I have my 2 hour + break, load is not ready at 7am, good, can get a break in. load comes ready at 11am, my 8 hour break is up at 12:30, so I take my time getting ready, and roll out at 12:45, split sleeper berth provision met, and I can now drive for 11- .25 = 10.75 hours. I rolled for 6 hours, and shut down for the night. Tired need a good sleep.

Learn to manage your hours, and with my comapny, always pcik the load up, even if you don't have the hours to make the delivery, they will either reschedule the appointment, or repower the load. This keeps me moving.

You should be fine. Many give 1 hour but usually 15-30 minutes you are safet.

Let me add to the 1 hour lee-way (have a feeling you drive where I work :). That 1 hour lee-way you want to be carefull with.

    1) If the company is monitoring your hours via qualcom there is no lee-way on it so you get busted so basically it's a conradiction to giving you 1 hour lee-way.
    2) If (BIG IF, I know but it does happen to the best of the best) you are in an accident and it goes to court for WHATEVER reason they don't give you a 1 hour lee-way, they usually go to the minute! Therefore you might want to be as perfect as possible but to comfort you 15 minutes is usually going to be hard to determine in the records they have.:yes2557:

    Just heads up info
