i was a worker for jb hunt untell i got hurt on the job, i worked for jb hunt for months and once i got hurt thay fired me. I sent them doctors excuses giving the days i would be off, well the dispatcher calls me and informs me if i don't start driving by the next day i would be fired .Well i told hem that i was on pain killers and was going to need surgery so i was going to have to refuse and sence i was hired in NJ. and the law that thay have the right to work law it lets them fire you without any reason.what a company, one that is nice to while you are getting done what thay want but when you get hurt thay throw salt in your wound and stab you in the back just beware , its bad when the safety man is in on it too.and when thay tell your fellow employees that you are on med.leave and just waiting for you to get better so you can get back to driving for them , but not helping you in any way to get you better .But wanting you back once you pay for all of the doctors bills and pain meds, what a company.

    Hello
I was done the same way by jb hunt except they don't want me back.
I had to have back surgery after an accident that nearly left me paralyzed.
dispatch called me the day i got out of the hospital to tell me that "do to the severity of the accident, it being a roll over, we have to let you go." I believe it's more because they can't use a driver with a bad back.
Good luck to anyone that works for JB Hunt!

I always find it's the anal people that comment of other folk's sentence structure on a forum site....
That being said, after driving for 25+ years in Alaska, I am having the time of my life driving for JB, I do give all the credit to my FM. Thanks to her I never sit, always have a load before I arrive at destination.

    Toniamama Thanks this.

You can't be working for the JB Hunt we all talk about. maybe being up in Alaska for 25 years may have skewed you understanding what a good company is. (the second part is a joke, don't take it serious)

I'mleft handed and from Arkansas, how can I possibly take anything like that seriously? I mean #### I already had 2 strikes against me at birth :smt044

But as far as JB goes....maybe I just have a great dispatcher or something, I have sat one weekend since I started for them in Dec.....and that was because the had a new weekend dispatcher that sent about 13 of us to the same place at the same time.....All I have to do is keep running for 5 more weeks then it's 2 weeks in Hawaii and then back to Alaska for the summer.....

I been with JB seven years. When I started, you had a choice between a tan cabover and a tan cabover. Up until now it's been great. They pay me on time, I get great miles, great pay.
What happened? Sometime ago, maybe a couple years ago now, they put the 1-800 how is my driving? number on the back of the trailers. I have no problem with that if it's handled correctly. It's not.
In 2005 someone called in on me on I81 in Maryland and said I cut them off. I was attempting to pass a four wheeler who had nothing better to do than to vary his speed and keep me trapped in the hammer lane for about 5 miles. My guess is the person behind me had places to be, and not stuck behind a 62 mph truck. I was pissing them off, and they dialed up and complained.
In 2006, someone called in and said I wouldn't move over from the right hand lane and Let them merge onto I10 between Lafayette and Baton Rouge. Once again, 62 mph, the traffic on my left was doing 75 and 80 mph. Had I gotten over, someone else would have called in and said I "cut them off." No winning situation here. Let's forget about the fact that I had the legal right of way in that situation...that doesn't matter.

April, 2007. I was coming down from I68 on US219 into parsons, wv for a load of Kingsford charcoal. the road is treacherous, 6% grades with 20mph curves once you cross over into WV from Marlyland. Half way down the hill there is a sign, "mandatory brake check all trucks must stop." when you get there, a strip of gravel along side the road 200 feet long. There were vehicles parked there. no room to pull over safely, without leaving the ### end of my trailer hanging out in middle of the road. Not a good idea, at least to anyone with common sense. I was empty, in 6th gear, had barely touched the brakes, so I decided the safest thing to do was to continue on down the hill. The kingsford truck in front of me made the same decision, he didn't stop either. I pull into kingsford, my cell phone rings, my fleet manager is screaming at me. The car that was stuck behind me as I slowly went down the hill called in on me. I'm routed to the terminal, stuck in training classes, and told if one more person calls in on me I'm fired.

I have no problem with the 1800 number, if we can sit down like adults and hash it out. That's not what happens. In all three "INCEDENTS" (btw they put them on your DAC as such) no one asked me my side of the story, nor did they want to hear about it. I was put on a conference call with office personnell in Lowell, was asked scripted questions, threatened with firing, and other than answering the questions directly, was not allowed to speak or tell my side of the story. The caller was right, and you are an incompetent idiot. Period.
If I was some trainee they hired a month ago, I could see this kind of treatment, but I have been with them for seven years, and deliver all my loads on time. In all my life I have never been treated with such a lack of respect.
Now I'm supposed to continue on as if nothing happened, knowing some driver in a four wheeler, totally ignorant of what a truck can or can't do, pissed off because he's stuck behind my governed truck, can pick up the cell phone and fire me.
I for one can't work like that. I will be looking for another job. All because they can't give a vetern driver the benefit of the doubt.

Buy a can of spray paint....black seems to work very well :)

I have had a couple of calls on me as well.....one was someone merging as well. I told my FM that if I could not get over and if I was in the right then the 4-wheeler could F-off, I was routed back to Lowell for training, I didn't mind got paid for sitting in front of a computer took my 10hr at home.....I'm like you don't mind having the # on there but the system is not fair to the driver at all and I informed my FM of that.

It's my understanding that the calls are not placed on your DAC, which is a joke anyway.

I like working for JBH, but I doubt that I will be back, nor will I work for another big company either...too much BS
