I never wanted a dog in the truck, life happened and I let one in. Sorta become a team, he got old and I wasn't about to make him suffer getting in and out etc. A catahoula is to big to pick up. Our grandmother lives just down the road and he took up with her. I think some how he knew she had Alzheimer's. I was just getting used to being solo when this wretched blue heeler came into my life. His 3rd day on the truck at 6 weeks old the city of Bridgeport TX wanna be texas ranger po po man is writing me a 4mph speeding ticket. Says no way I seen him, way I hit my brakes I must have a bird dog. So I have to get the pup out so he can search. As he is handing me my shoulder pass I look down and Doc is pissin on his shoe. It was at that moment I knew we was gonna be a good team.

And you would be wrong. Seen plenty of spotless personal cars and the truck be a pig sty. I've pulled handfuls of dog/cat hair out of heater/ac cores. Replaced carpet from cat piss. Seats/door panels from dogs chewing on them. Granted it's in the minority but those are what you remember.

That place I did all the local deliveries at for a year, sometimes I'd have to get in a truck to get BOL's.

There were a couple guys that it was JUST WOW. No animal would live like that lol.

There were two dudes at that company I post of, that those pics you posted could have been one of their trucks.

Sometimes even a lizard is not a good pet in the truck. " Louie" the blue tongue skink about 16". Driver thought he crawled out of the truck into the snow. Looked all over and couldn't find him. Come spring time the truck started to smell really bad. Louie had crawled between the interior and outside wall. When I first found him he didn't look too bad, until I pried him off the metal. Then the stench really hit, three people in the shop running outside gagging. Being the boss has it's perks, someone else scraped him into a box and put him in the dumpster.

    Primates. Little Man

Little Man was trained. Laid tarps and threw chains faster than any two humans.

I’d get down below dash and let him take the wheel from the drivers seat when the Scale house was rolling us through. He’d be hid under the bunk if they signaled us in. That was a great way to stay awake.

Some car cut me off in traffic, my boy shoulda been a Minor Leaguer. Except what he threw at them.

A trained chimp: Reduction of driver fatigue, and increased productivity.

(I agree with you, RL. More than one “pet” has been dumped roadside or at truckstop. And what to do when it needs a veterinarian? The truck always stinks and the HVAC is practically ruined. And, “accidents” ALWAYS happen. When, not if).

Want a “pet”. Buy your own truck.
