What's a better fuel card EFS or NASTC?

    Thank you very much.

That's about 0.33 a gallon less than what I do at a couple of independents on my my lane.

I used 9,700 gallons +/- in 2018. So the difference would be roughly $3,200 a year savings(based on these numbers) before I deducted out the annual NASTC membership fee and any other associated fees like card swipe fees etc. Can you give me an idea of what those would be?

No swipe fees. The monthly card activation fee is $4.25. I don’t remember what the yearly fee is.

I do not know the fees for setting up as credit. I have prepay.

You're right on that. I just checked the price at the same TA on Landstar SavingsPlus and it was 2.05 a gallon. However, as I said I don't run many loads through them as an asset based carrier. Primarily because I get better rates than what I can negotiate with their agents on the same lane.

Before we signed up with NASTC, we ended up "having to" attend the seminar. Neither the redhead or I had any interest in going, so we sent a "company representative". A cheap flight and a hotel, and someone spent a day in a boring sales pitch during their paid vacation.... Worked for all parties, though maybe NASTC didn't plan for that one...

    I just checked:
A "semi" truck gasoline tanker holds 9,000 gallons, give or take. The capacity is usually controlled by the 80,000 lb gross weight limit for trucks in the US."

WOW! I am buying pretty much as much fuel as Flying J truck hauling two tanker trailers: one longer, one shorter. I would have never visualized that it was that much. Now when I see it, I feel sort of important...I think I deserve that that 5-6K suit too...:D.

I am in the same boat. I really wish LS would let you add pre paid funds to the card. I seldom haul for them, but when I do I leave the funds on the card just to get the discounts.

If you deal with XPO logistics any check with them scooter. Guy called me Thursday and emailed me some info on their fuel card. I have just briefly looked over it. Discounts at TA/Petro look to be as good as LS, and you can prepay funds from your bank account or set it up as a credit account.
