In the old days,Jubitz was a dump, but it improved. Most of the truckstop business was across the street,in the old building, that's still there. Dirty community showers, gravel lot, crap everywhere, the resturant and bar were located about where they now.Fuel was still in the .30 range then, and they gave good discounts. Free Ham and Egg breakfast,1.99 value,if you bought 150 gallons, iirc,.
Jubitz was basically a flat bedders truckstop then,as there was still a good bit of industry in the area, like Hyster,Towmotor,Caterpillar, and others, all had assemblies in the area. Plus all the lumber. The truckstop was full of flatbed trucking companies offices, this was way before, internet, cell phones, computers, etc. If you were looking for a load, you went to Jubitz, and knocked on brokers doors.
Around 1975 or so,they had a big fire, and they rebuilt the bar and restaurant, pretty much where they are now. Built the fuel islands, and decent showers, and scales where they are now. Spent a lot of time at Jubitz,as every company I was leased to back then had an office there. Truckstop was pretty good back then when old Moe Jubitz ran the place,he would be in the restaurant lots of mornings, shooting the bull with the drivers. Good food at good prices. His kids took over, when he died, seems like things kind of changed directions then. Became a travel center, not a truck stop. And they did try to start to charge for truck parking once, even built a little toll booth house,by the fuel islands. Didn't last long.
Haven't been there in quite a while, fancy place now,and prices reflect it.
Wish I had all the money back I spent in their bar though, lol.

Never get in line to the truck wash there. You'll be there all night. There is another truck wash next door that never seems to be busy. You can see it over the fence from the Jubitz parking lot.

Yeah the Blue Beacon at Jubitz always has a long line. What cracks me up is in the middle of summer when the potholes in the parking lot are full of gravel and dust, the trucks come rolling out of the wash all clean and shiny. Then they go out into the Jubitz parking lot and the dust and crud blows up in clouds and sticks to the water on the clean trucks.

I can't say much though. I went to Blue Beacon in Corning CA last night before my 10 and got a wash. About halfway through Oregon today my engine light came on so I pulled over to check it out. Turns out the oil filler cap came loose and blew oil all over the engine compartment and it covered the under body and trailer. I had a sick feeling looking at it. Just spent $105 in Aurora to get it washed again less than 24 hours after my last wash. The oil must have shorted out a sensor to cause the engine light to come on. Plenty on the dip stick.

I remember the 1970's when the Jubitz parking lot was unpaved and unlit. Best place on the West coast for dope and hookers.

I never knew Jubitz was such a bad place years ago. It's funny how some places can completely change their customers and their own culture and turn it around into the nice place it is today. On the flip side of Jubitz would be Bruce's t/s in Bakersfield. Used to be a good place, Scottsman had great food, nice bar and little by little it went down hill until the bad culture put them out.

It wasn't. Hookers, yeah, every truckstop had them back then. I guess I must have missed all the knifings, only went in there for 40+ years, starting in the early 70's. It was the wild, wild west in the old days,no crazy violence, occasional drunk trucker bar fight, but a lot of fun,for the most part.

Using that logic is how I found three of my ex-wives.
