Ok yeah I eventually figured out what pork chops are, and I don't know, you'd have to be some kind of starving to eat those. :biggrin_2555:

Anyway, I'm back home blogging from my home office. If I had an end dump I'd be working, but the Virginia runs couldn't accommodate a hopper (or vice-versa I guess). He said he had a couple other offers but wouldn't advise it, better to wait until tomorrow. For instance he had a dead head to Augusta, GA then to Alabama (I don't remember where) for $20 a ton. Not only would it only work out to about $1.17 a mile, but AL would be worse to be stuck in than NC and I'd probably be there all weekend.

Gives me 80% odds on something good in the AM and I've got dibs. So, next check-in time is 9:30am. Apparently he gets the bulk of the week's work Monday mornings, assigns them all out preplanning folks, then some stragglers come in daily that are hit or miss. So worst case scenario it could be Monday :biggrin_2554:, but still insists once I'm gone it's gravy, just trying to manage the first deadhead and not wanting to give crap for the first run.

I'm still optimistic, but very bummed that I had all those delays this week to end up stuck here anyway.

Wayne I'm gonna give you a shout... barely used the clutch all day :biggrin_25525:, serpentined myself out of a poor planning mess, and didn't almost hit anyone! I even did a straight back for 3 blocks parking on my cul-de-sac. Didn't hear any screams, so if there was something, it was instant.

Sounds like you are at a dis-advantage starting this late in the week. You were smart by not heading off to a dead area just to sit over the week-end. Maybe you can get something tomorrow. You may be better off with a good pre-planned week by not starting off till Monday. You may not want to hear that but,you may be better off in the long run.

I bet it'll be at least his second month before he knows what that's all about.

Darn shame, though. Red Sovine should be the first songs learned. At least then folks will know just what a sad life the life of a trucker can be.

    Welcome to the club, Pharm.

LMAO... I realize this is an old post, but I just started reading the thread. That comment caused me to spit coffee all over the inside of my truck!
