I know what kind of driver you are. You can tell the truck in front of you is texting so you strategically pass when their head is down. By the time they look up all they see is the trailer tandems rolling by slowly. All they can do is yell NO! NO! and smash the accelerator, but its to late your merging back over in front of them. I love when that happens.

Oh. I guess we have different definitions. I call this basic defensive and smart driving style. I think I learnt this at 6 months while doing home study in the crib.

Don't worry about it. Most of us understand that your company requires you to maintain a certain speed which is often times well under the speed limit. I'm no super trucker and I've never understood why some folks just can't for the life of them back it down just a bit. The truck I drive now will go as fast as I'll let it go, but I keep it at 65 most of the time. Saves my owner on fuel costs.

Bottom line is this: If you're really serious about moving on to what you consider a "better company," you have to keep your record clean. Breaking the rules at Swift won't help you accomplish this. It sucks, but keep it within their guidelines for speed and safety or you'll never get a chance to move to a better company. And for the record, I started out at Swift as well...

meh, the other guy has a lot of good advice. If you look around this site and don't take stuff personal you can learn a lot and almost everyone has something useful to say.

This job may not be anything special but driving is something to be taken seriously and the day you stop trying to get better and safer is a bad day.
