Thanks for the heads up, I just researched this driving school and it's a 2 year contract. I will look more into it! I am planning to pay for the program myself so I don't get screwed over under a contract haha.

Estes also has a few perks they don’t necessarily advertise. They have cell phone reimbursement as well as cell phone discounts with a few carriers, and discounts on Ford vehicles, just for being employed with them. It’s no mystery all the corporate cars are Fords with Virginia plates. Twice a year they will also post these cars for sale to employees for CHEAP. Although they do have a boat load of miles on them. I got sidetracked but initially I was wanting to tell the OP Estes did have a further education program where they’d help you with tuition for going back to school. I can’t remember though if it had to be related to the transportation field or not though. It’s been a while since I worked for them. Also if it’s still the same you’ll fall under the GI Trucking rules of Estes, since you’re in CA. (GI is who Estes bought out some years ago to finally go nationwide) Not much different except you’ll get overtime before 55 hours. I THINK it’s 45, but again, that was all a few years ago and that could’ve all changed. Best of luck in whatever you decide.

Nothing wrong with a contract if the money is good. Millions of Americans would love a work contract.

Screw trucking, Look into the trades, Carpenter, electrician, plumber. All these trades are dying for help and all are willing to train. You are looking at $35hr min.and upwards of $45hr to ?

Very true!! My nephew opted out of a 4 year degree. He’s going with tool & die. The 4 year degree will only come into play if he wants to go into management.

Following in his dads footsteps. He’ll be knocking down 6 figures in short order. With ZERO student loan debt.

I know what you mean, i researched a lot of trade programs. I was originally going to apply for an elevator technician apprenticeship but there's no local area in LA, the only one is in San Francisco. Elevator technician would be a dream trade job for me. Operational engineer, there application cycle for Whittier, CA reopens in Jan of 2020 and also for an electric journeyman apprenticeship, Im going to apply for that one this upcoming Jule of 2019. It's very hard to get into these trades unless you know someone. I should have been smart and just did a trade straight outta high school in 2007.

Another huge field coming is Sprinkler fitters basically plumbing, But here in Chicago every building has to have a sprinkler system in place by 20xx, Which means older Highrise buildings will have to be retro fitted, Huge work for many many years to come.
The got to know somebody age is gone, All the new generation kids don't want to do this type of work
