yep as I understand it you are...
All my last companies trucks were newer gliders (2016 and up) bought from Fitzgerald with pre 99 motors and all were exempt..
I've personally been checked at least 3 times since the new breed elog went mandatory...

How do you prove to the guys checking that the engine is pre 99???
On the valve cover the reman engine says nothing about original manufacturer date , only reman date. -
Most of them don't know what they are looking at anyway.....We also had documentation in our permit books showing build date.snowman_w900 Thanks this. -
If what is said here is true, meaning that after the year 2000 truck if you have an older engine in it, you are ELD exempt here's a question.
Is it legal to swap an older engine into a 2000 or newer truck, even a mechanical engine? Does the title have to be reconstructed? Somehow I think the answer to this is no, but... -
Well I've been trying to get documentation from Detroit for my reman series 60 in my 2016 glider but all they can give me is the reman built date. The new serial number only shows the reman build date. Not sure how you guys are doing it

To reiterate. The dates of assembly, repair whatever has nothing to do with it. It is the EPA model year pollution specification that the engine was built to that matters.Tall Mike Thanks this. -
He and I are certain the truck was not built with that engine. How far you can stretch this point I guess is between you and Barney Fife....Tall Mike Thanks this. -
I personally know a couple guys running newer motors that have been given a facelift so they look exempt but really aren't. So far none have been caught or bothered. How far can they stretch it ? thats hard to say ! -
Dino soar Thanks this.

I don't know that a glider is the same because at least in Pennsylvania that has a reconstructed title. The rules really are confusing.
