I have a semi pulling a 7 car trailer. BUT I seem to notice a lot of duallys pulling 5, 6, even 7 small cars around the bay area and LA. How are these people on the road with such equipment? I'm just shocked,. Ram 3500s pulling 5 cars is a normal sight now. 4500-5500 pulling 6-7??? With electric brakes? How is CHP letting operate? They are so overweight on the drive axle. And now that the new ram is coming out with 1000 torque, I'm sure there's gonna be a lot of geniuses that think they are better than semis...

You can get electric over hydraulic brakes that I believe are discs not drums on the trailers, if you have a triple axle trailer you've got as many axles as a truck. I still wouldn't do a 7 car myself but there's no reason not to do 4 or 5. Then if you do what a local guy around here did and add an axle to the pickup too, you got lots of stopping power.

Coming from someone who owned and drove one of those set ups and now owns a full air brake semi set up.
They don’t stop for #### and are flat out dangerous in any kind of panic situation no matter if they have electric or hydraulic brakes.
And as previously stated they are constantly over on drive axel weight.

No big deal until you're going down a hill and need to stop.

With a pickup and trailer, the DOT is only concerned with the GVCW. Pickup and trailers are not weighed for each axle. Recent example (1/18/2019) at a weigh station in MS. Axle 1-5360, axle 2-10600, axle 3-10740 = 26700 I am licensed at 29,200. My Chevy 3500 is rated at 13,000 and the 3 car is 20,000. The officer handed me the paper and said, "Be safe" Out the door I went. Thanks

Oh it’s coming you have just been lucky so far.
    If you read my post...
I started out the way you did so what I say is from experience.
Eventually the scale house door is going to open and out will come the scale master to take a look at your sticker on the door jam to get the weight rating of your rear axel.
Then they also like to check the weight rating of the tires.
If you think that only semi tractors can get a ticket for being overweight on the drive axel your kidding yourself.

California scales have a no pickups signs. Do these guys have to even enter the scale?
I’ve seen some 6 car trailers pulled by a pickup yet to see a 7, but I’m sure they are out there.

I pass Manhiem on the way home from work everyday and plus I have been wanting to get into the car hauling business too. I see duallys pulling 5-6 car trailers.
