Hahaha I went to a place that wasn’t even on google maps or my GPS. And neither was the road.
It was an interesting day to say the least. Low underpass and all.
Best GPS? I know this has been forumed to death, But!

CoPilot Truck has good routing most times, but actually house or business steet numbers are always off by 1/2 mile I would say. So you have to double check with Google maps. You download the maps to you phone. So your have directions even if no cell phone data.
They have 2 apps I think one you buy for $150 and it always on sale in the fall for like $90. The other version is free to download I think then $9.99 a month or $99 a year for live traffic updates. You would have double check if the $150 come with live traffic updates. I like on screen navigation of CoPilot. I believe they have 14 day free trial. Seems crazy they have 2 app in Google Play store -
I’m using RM. It gives me strange routes (it reroutes) quite often. Even that, im not planning to change it.
I’m using google maps in prior to plan how to get to my destination. -
Every GPS has its flaws. Trick is to find one you can live with. I’ve used Garmin for the better part of 15 years.
Started with an auto version. Bought new as they died.
One of the great things about being OG. I pretty much knew many of the bad routes the auto version would try to send me down. And avoided them. -

Yes I know they are only one tool in the tool box, and Yes I have the RM Road Atlas, and Yes I know I can google earth the PU/Del locations, I just want one that will give me good general directions. My non trucking one had me in a residential area last week in North Logan, and then on a dead end street in Denver.
I'm thinking of the Garmin Dezl 780?
Thanks in advance.Click to expand...
I've been on 4 lanes that didn't even show up on the GPS. They we're old enough to have cracks in the asphalt. Routed Straoght through towns when there was prominant truck routes posted, and have been for years. That doesn't even cover turn restrictions and non existent ramps.
Not going to find one without issues. -
An interesting thing to try is compare Google maps routing against a "truck GPS"....

CoPilot truck, A GPS phone app that has a good map that will show many restrictions. More than standalone gps navigation systems will.
You can see truck, height, and turn restrictions at a glance. Not going to happen with an atlas...
But it isn't very good at finding nearby truck parking/points of interest beond 25 miles. Not good for trip planning. The ones that do well in that regard suck in the cities/last leg of the trip.
None of them have it all.
