That towing company. Call them back and get a name. Then write that name and number on every bathroom wall you encounter with the same area code.

Don’t get off the pavement unless you know the unknown is packed gravel.
Than again I broke the Cardinal Rule today myself and dropped my steers off the drive onto the lawn at the farm I pick up at.
First time I needed a Yank. In my defense there was 6 inches of unplowed snow in the drive.Tombstone69 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
$350 is nothing in this business for a tow bill.
Try getting Whacked for $3500 for a 5 minute tug off a sandbar that you didn’t have enough horsepower to back against the current to get your soft grounding reversed.Sirscrapntruckalot, Lepton1, SteerTire and 1 other person Thank this. -

As for your situation, you always call the boss when you have issues. This is one time when you call.
As for the towing company, I would have had words with them, you called them, you were willing to pay but screw them, find another one if you can. Your phone is your friend.

I had a neighbor once pull Me out of my Own front yard. Despite My wife’s warning about the ground being soft. Lol “ You never listen to Me”. My Jeep wouldn’t do it. He had a 4wh Drive Suburban w/ 454. No problem.

You did well, although I agree with well respected forum members that noted you should have called your boss right away. From your description it does sound like a towing scam.
I have been inches from needing a tow several times these last few years. Most times it's because of slick, soupy mud. I drive for the oil field. A hard rain can make country roads a soupy mess.
So far I haven't had to pay to get towed (knock on wood). I have always been able to engage the power divider and powered it out. Do you have any experience with using the power divider? -
if you are a company driver, i dont know why you have to go thru all that. just call your company/boss and let them handle it

What’s wrong with him first trying to get out of a Jam on his Own? Can’t call the Boss everytime something goes sideways. Only When absolutely necessary. He had no idea the Scam was in play. I see Guys all the time at TS getting a mud flap hung for $86. Anytime I accidentally ripped one off, I fixed it myself. Even finding an old one at TS if I had to and installing it.
faux_maestro and Lepton1 Thank this.
