Antioch does not have to deal with salt in the water the same as the coastal cities. While their water has increased in salt content over the years, their water is considered to be "brackish". They will not be dealing with anywhere near the salt content of ocean water.
Still, you are right. I too was surprised the got the plan approved.

I don’t have a link, but I read a report about carbon fiber nanotubes that looked to be very promising for desalination.

Was gonna say......ya'll got a big ol ocean and the technology to desalinate water is decades old.
California has got to be the biggest WTF state in the union. But, I guess everybody has a brother in law.

The only reason all those reservoirs aren't at capacity or won't be at capacity is they manage their natural resources just like everything else.

    MagnumaMoose and dwells40 Thank this.

Indeed. If anyone is at a computer, do WIKIPEDIA on desalination and post. Apparently, the Greeks had it figured out over 2000 years ago. SMH.....seriously folks. This is dumb on a statewide level.

It was all a question of what was most cost effective 50 years ago with what the population was then. All was fine with the Aqueduct system they built then. Unfortunately the population and business requirements grew and none of the leaders (any of them social, political, business, nor community) between then and now had the cajones to push through a forward looking solution. So now they are in crisis management mode.

Calif. and Desalination. Simple... it’s expensive.
Now they can catch up water prices with electricity.

This a picture that was just texted to me from some of the kin in the communist state.

Text read "Thank God it finally stopped raining. "

Why are people praying and thanking God for stopping the rain if there is a drought?

Blizzard in SLC this morning. Blizzard warning in Denver.

Think it's about time for me to go to Washington.
