    You have it all wrong.

I do not care if anyone carries or not. I PERSONALLY do not see the need.

I am just against the other driving issues as well. I have PERSONALLY lost a family member to a Drunk driver. I have lost many nights sleep attending to the drunks who run off the road. Reckless drivers and other careless drivers have their effect as well. I treat the patients as a volunteer and am not paid.

No federal law regarding this, state laws govern the permit process. Interstate transportation of a concealed weapon might be a whole nother subject.

I have already covered interstate transportation, the law, and the only state that doesn't follow the Federal law in another post. Actually there are several posts concerning this.

I use a hand gun to hunt deer with on occasion and it is a large hand gun. With a scope. So just about any center fire hand gun has a lot of uses other than shooting people. Now as far as concealed carry goes, How about pepper spray? Is that legal? It will put you on the ground fast. And last time I checked is not deadly.

Two reasons prevent me from replying in a much firmer manner:

    (1) I think this is your only post I have read, so I'll accept your last statement as genuine, which would mean that another ANTI-firearms, (drive-by) poster has decided to use ignorance, rather than information.

    (2) Some of the ANTI-firearms (drive by) crowd have apparently realized that they cannot win this discussion with correct information, so they have resorted to complaining to the mods that some posts are perceived as threatening, thus having the posts they do not agree deleted.

In case you haven't realized, in addition to being an AVID firearms "junkie", I am also a supporter and believer in the Constitution of our United States of America.
Rather than repeat a post, would you PLEASE read my post #682, page 69, this thread? Probably a wasted request, as I can tell you haven't done much research before your other post.
Like someone else mentioned, I also own several handguns that are designed for, and used for hunting purposes, MANY are of the single shot configuration, which would not make them feasible for a "Virginia Tech" type of killer.
I also own a few handguns designed for target shooting. Some of these are also single shots, and I personally own four that are of such a small caliber (.177, & .22), that were I to be in a confrontation with someone I thought to be influenced by drugs, I'd probably throw the gun rather than risk angering him by shooting.

I agree with you that the Virginia Tech tragedy would not have happened if firearms were only available to law enforcement, but then if that were the case, WHY would law enforcement NEED firearms?
To protect Joe Sixpack? A lot can happen in the time it takes for LEO to respond to an incident, Joe could be room temperature before their arrival.
To protect themselves? LEO catch holy hell for using pepper spray or tasers, much less to fire a gun!

Referring back to your comment that the V T tragedy would not have happened if firearms were only available to law enforcement, what about ILLEGAL DRUGS? They are banned, and how many people continue to use them? For all I know, you could be sitting at your computer reading this while partaking of a banned substance. How many lives have been destroyed be using drugs that have been banned for decades?
Ditto for the ILLEGAL act of driving under the influence, another destroyer of lives.

Like so many other misguided individuals, you think that by banning a simple object, you are going to solve a problem and save lives. That object is incapable of committing any act, legal, or illegal. A living, breathing, thinking human, is the origin of an act, legal or illegal. Remove that human, and no act is possible.

While I am very reluctant to refer back to any violent tragedy, I'll mention another senseless act, the killings at Columbine High School some years back, (that many call the Columbine shootings). According to the coroner's report more people died from the homemade bombs that were tossed into the crowded classrooms than from gunshots. In all honesty, the link that posted that info was removed before I could read and verify that. The only reason I mention it now, is because the person who sent me the link is my younger brother, and I am very aware of his creditability.

I apoligize to everyone for the long rambling post; as you probably perceived, I am quite passionate about this subject, and it saddens me that so many can be so misguided at a time when education is so easily available.

its real simple...If guns are outlawed ONLY OUTLAWS will have guns..
when was the last time you had to call the police...what was the response time.
think they can get there BEFORE the crimal maims. disfigures or kills you...I put $10 no the Law wont make it on time..However if I shoot them before they shoot me the criminal will still be there when the law shows up...

Here's the federal law that I found. U.S. Code Title 18>part1>chapter 44>§926A. I'm sure it's been listed before but it does answer alot of questions.

Well it comes down to this, I own and carry a pistol in my truck and on my person. It has one purpose and one alone, if I feel my life is in danger I will use the weapon. I promise not to mame or permanently disfigure someone with it however with my skills as a marcsman and my prior Law Enforcement training, if the need arises that I have to pull my weapon, it will be used and I will shoot to kill, even if it takes 2 magazines to do it. Point is I do not believe in just stopping an attacker, if I did I would use a non lethal method but if an attacker squares off to me, I assure you he will not ever be able to do that again. In all reality it will cost us all much less, no court issues, appeals and lengthy jail terms. I do not believe in rehabilitation of a criminal, a man who is willing to trade a life for whatever personal gane they feel they need, I feel they do not deserve to live. Now some people just refuse to educate themselves in the manner and always have a revelation once a crime is acted upon them.

I am tired of all the nonsense of idiots thinking we do not deserve the right to have guns, however they must think the criminal has the right to attack......
