I believe he's in the wrong thread. This is MARTEN Transport LTD thread nor Martin from spring hill.

Yes Marten is putting apu's on all OTR trucks. They are using Tripak units that have an air conditioner,1800 watt inverter and a diesel fired Esbar bunk heater. I bought the same setup for my truck from thermo-king in St Paul for $8,200.
The last I heard starting pay was .36 to .39 depending on experience with 1yr min. top pay of .43 for solo company drivers. They have a good website with applications and info at www.marten.com.

I wonder what Marten's miles have been like in the last few months while the rest of the industry is sitting around waiting for loads. I have to say this is one company I have never heard anything negative about. They seem to take care of their people and really care ABOUT their people. Unusual in this industry which tends to treat drivers as expendable... which is interesting, since without drivers NO companies would be making any money!

The last month and half, i'm holding steady around 2,700-2,800 miles aweek, only because of my choice. On the other hand i have couple of weeks there,in the same time frame i have done 3,000.
This week been a differant story, been sick for 3 days, so haven't been able to do much.
If anyone who finds this board, will do thier reserach , go look at Martens Quarterly statements for all of 2007 and 2008. They have showed a profit. There is a link on the Marten website
Randy two years saw it fit to put apus on all our trucks, because we do go to CA daily, as well as those other no idle states. He wants his drivers to be able to get a good nights rest, with out having to start the truck ever couple of hours for ac or heat.
This was the best thing he has done for his drivers. And yes he's been seeing a return of his investment of $16 millon, due to the savings from not having to idle.
I get a kick out of reading other boards/ forums, when i read that Marten is being bought out, or going under, blah, blah, blah, blah. Well if this was true, why hasn't happpend? Been here over 4 years.
Yes each company does have thier quirks, that some drivers won't like.
So then they come on the web and say this is a bad company for this and that reason.
Yet you can go talk with drivers at that same company and they just laugh it off.
Each company has it's own policys on how they operate and expect thier employees to follow. One must adapt to differant things.
But many are to scared to change. The are set in thier ways. -
I as an ex-Bluebird had to laugh at his post. I am a million miler with done and done it in 5. years yes Marten is a good company, bu it is evident he never hauled one of their P/G or produce loads when he states he was never made to run hot thats funny cause they do it all the time. My FMs were WLS,DB ask them they will tell you I was never late for p/u or del and no accidents or incidents while there. If you tell them no on something then you are in trouble..Overall they are better then most. I was there from 02-11/07

these r 2 different companies hence the spelling. Marten is out of Wi, Martin is out of Mi

Lostheart, you said, "If you tell them no on something then you are in trouble." What would you be saying no to, and what kind of trouble?
