Go back to the company and finish the contract then.
Don't know if it's true or not, but someone posted Swift will pay it if you agree to work for Swift. Maybe, that's BS, but worth a phone call.

 

Need to get better at money management my friend... which will require some sacrifice... If the only option is to go work for them then do it, pay off as much as possible as fast as possible then go work elsewhere..

 

Sorry, got all the characteristics of a cry baby. What did you expect? And what's the issue with driving under adverse conditions? I think you let the 1st company down, they have a vested interest in you until you pay off the contract. I'd be upset too. People today run to these lawyers when they realize they've made a mistake and want out of it. Again, sorry, but you stuck it to them.

 

Go find yourself another job. Pay them off yourself on a payment plan. I wouldn't stress yourself apply to the companies that fit what your looking for. I would explain to the new companies that interview you what your dealing with & go from their. Don't let that company bully you. You must admit you didn't keep your end of the deal such is life. I hope all goes well for you.

 

A couple things.

First go find a contingent ambulance chaser who will take the case based on a recovery. Let them get involved with your original company to setup a payment plan. They may also decide to sue the company because of you being fired, this could be a lost wage issue and that is another way to solve the problem.

Second tell the next company what happened, if they are like many (like me), they will tell the company to go to hell and that's it. You pay the thing off and be done with it.

By the way, if you have this much issue with the weather, maybe you should never started this venture, just saying.

 

You have been blacklisted. Under many states employers in a industry are allowed to write or verbally state that word to any prospective employer or employer. Blacklisting dates before we were America as a way to eliminate undesirables from a given trade. It is actually legal depending on what state you are in and how that blacklister handled it. I am also BL'ed out of Indiana but they permit verbal over the phone use of that word never written. If they so much as write it down and I catch it then I can pretty much take over the whole outfit when the Indiana courts get through with them. It's been 25 years so it's no longer applying to me. Ancient history.

You need a lawyer for that.

Also you signed of free will to borrow money for paid training using your future labor with one employer that provides it as a sureity to be satisified if you stayed there long enough or you paid the bill of the training yourself should for some reason you get seperated.

Trucking is among the worst job you can have because any minute you can be dismissed or fired for applying for example too much braking on your truck.

You stated you are a sunshine driver and don't do bad weather or winter etc. Well... you will find that the industry requires that of you. IF you cannot handle it, no problem you need to find other work that does not involve bad weather or winter.

 

I actually feel the need to get details about the adverse weather you were facing and what the old company was telling you.

 

I know I will get hammered for this comment. That's OK hammer away. This thread makes me angry! It also reminds me of a wish I have had now for a while. That the law could be changed to allow for the suspension of CDL's till these bills are either paid off or made current. A fricking contract should mean something. Now hammer away I just put my flameproof underwear on!

 

it is life. making bad decisions but couldnt handle the consequences. how to afford a lawyer when couldnt pay for a small debt. just have to man up and take care of business, finish the old job

 

All of us has made bad decisions. Not a day goes by that I don't regret the horrible decision I made in the summer and fall of 1980. However, we are slaves to those decisions. A year is not that long. Run hard learn the trade and start learning the winter weather rules. You will find that year will go by fast.
