I ran Terex loaders and dozersfor a mis-spent year of my youth and spent many hour weather sitting 10 inches above and forward of a 6-71,or 8v71 and 5 feet behind the dual straight stacks of a 8v71 of a dozer in about 1973 and I also ran a shack hauler L8000 with a 6-71.
I used to love them in the Terex stuff until I got to run a 270 cummins and later 290 and 335s then the 6-71 in the Louisville was very anemic.

Battery is in the trunk on this one. Now it's in my garage on a charger, the inner fender is kinda tore up and there are multiple pieces of the the alarm now on the ground. When I get back tomorrow night I'm getting it running and Monday morning I'm trading it in or burning it to the ground. I said after I got rid of that godforsaken Mercedes 15 years ago I'd never own another piece of fine German craftsmanship, now I remember why. It's an unbelievable car, fast, handles like it's on rails BUT requires a specially trained mechanic with special tools to follow it around for when something minor like a dead battery happens. Now I'm being told that in all likelihood I'll still have to get it towed to a shop to have the something reprogrammed before it'll start again because I removed the battery or some such bull####!

Yeah I knew he was involved. I remember them saying he basically was the one that managed Detroit Diesel into being what it was.

The overhead cam designed the way it was, was one of the best designed engine ideas of the time period in my opinion because they were so dam easy to work on. The cam could be removed right from the top with out pulling the head or much on the timing cover. Running the overhead is super easy.

87 on the Series 60. The whole engine was designed by a engineer at JD. JD thought it was retarded. Roger Penske owned Detroit at the time thought it was a really good engine and well that as they would say is history! Yes some 92's had dedec1 on them. I never got to play with one.
