Ok, got one for you N-14 guys. @ShooterK2 and @OLDSKOOLERnWV buddy of mine just had an air comp installed on his N-14. 50 miles down the road it quit running. Won't even run on either......ideas ??
Where is everyone #5

@Tug Toy was it you that has a generator in the box on the trailer?
I thought I'd show you this setup

Timming position sensor came unplugged or oil psi sensor was damaged below fuel pump. Ask him if first if he gets a stop/check engine light when key is turned on?bigguns, OLDSKOOLERnWV, ShooterK2 and 16 others Thank this. -

Or it burped a air pocket and coolant level is low. But cycling they key it should restart and shut down if thats the case.

Now don't read that wrong, "I never went to school for it" means I didn't go to an institution and attend scheduled classes, it in no way shape or form doesn't mean I didn't study it. I studied it endlessly with relentless vigor.
I've always had a natural grasp of physics, and generally find it simple, and that helps tremendously.
I got involved in drag racing fairly young, and got into a class over my head. I didn't have the financial resources to buy all the latest greatest or best parts, so I quickly realized that the only competitive advantage I could gain was knowledge.
I read countless books on internal combustion engine design, advancements, and theory. As well I got ahold of an entire mechanical engineering course, set of textbooks, and curriculum and basically did it on my own in the truck when I wasn't driving.
During all of this studying my mind became freed, I began to understand things that weren't even written, I was reading between the lines in the theory and advancement books, and I had to go back reread them and learned even more.
I paid particular attention to naturally aspirated and gas based stuff, as that was what I was racing.
When I was having some issues with this computer based stupid engine, I ran across a very intelligent individual, as he began picking my brain to help understand my problem, he helped me realize that all my answers were already in my head, I just had to learn to adjust spark ignition and carburetion into adibiatic heating with injection timing to have precision combustion control in a diesel to harness the potential.
I am not a mechanic.
I am not a mechanical engineer.
I am not a computer programmer.
But I know enough to make me dangerous.
Here's what I know about a modern diesel engine. Underneath all the sofisticated electronic controls and systems lies...a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine. That's it, that's all. Quit trying to complicate it.
Now look at each system and control that complicates it separately, and it becomes simple.
The only thing all this crap has done is make the fueling, injection, and combustion process, far more controlled and predictable. Then harnessed waste gasses to reduce "harmful" gasses (emissions)...
But at the end of the day, it's still;
Suck
Squeeze
Bang
Blow
Now just learn a little programming, insert your knowledge, and tell the ECM how YOU want it controlled...viola, a personal tune.
Or
Program an Arduino board to control a VGT the way you want, and bolt the VGT to an old mechanical engine, and use a sensor on the demand side of the fueling rack, and a TPS to input the Arduino and voila you've adapted a VGT to a mechanical engine. You've reduced response time by about 75%, and increased efficiency under normal torque load by probably 10%.
But everybody hates VGT's.Last edited: Jan 26, 2019

I’m short of Monday’s delivery about 100 miles because of the road conditions. Talked to the job site and going to try and unload tomarow in cold but clear weather? If they can get the fork truck started in the morning?
Monday morning is bringing 12 to 14 inches of snow, wind then quickly dropping to negative temps before 9 am.
I’m hopeful we can get it handled tomorrow? -
@catalinaflyer
I sure hope you weren’t wearing your “uniform” today around all those airplanes....wore out, 4mer trucker, Shock Therapy and 13 others Thank this. -
Guess some dopes run flats too....
