Well, as I said, this is a completely unrelated, reefer outfit that has the same name. I'm kind of eyeing them as a second job as I'm applying towards a local, set schedule, trailer shagging outfit. It's 42 hours/3.5 days on/3.5 days off a week, so that'll give me enough time to get their casual, 1-2 turns a week done on their relay board.

I was hired on as a Curtiss driver but after orientation, I was trained as a acid driver and ended up working six months out of Safford terminal, it overall wasn't that bad, I worked night shift which made the suit more bearable and the load racks at FMI Miami wide open, unlike the day shift where it was a absolute circus, eventually though I was brought back to Curtiss and things went downhill fast.

    Yep.

No openings for relay at this time. But the recruiter said one could run as little as one load a month, or as many as regular driver. Slip seating when you decide to stop for however long you tell them and then come back. Seems quite gravy. I live an hour and a half from their Amarillo yard, so going in on my presumed off days with this other company every other week shouldn't be that bad.
I thought about doing the same with where I'm at right now. But no dice.

Ok suggestion only, I went back through your original post again and you mentioned Albuquerque, on their website Saia is saying they have a linehaul position open (probably systems) as well as a p&d position in AQE, and also p&d position in Farmington, as far as Amarillo and relay work, there is a company called Kimrad in Amarillo, they haul crude oil, anhydrous ammonia, asphalt and other nasty stuff, they have a deal right now where they are relaying anhydrous ammonia trailers to Tularosa NM, and meeting drivers out of Benson Az and swapping trailers.

I applied to that Saia linehaul position out of there not too long ago. But still no call backs or anything regarding the app. Only way to really know is to physically check in on it and see. I even had an interview with ODFL for line haul out of ABQ as well back in 2017. But I got bumped off the hiring list due to an influx of transfers from a more expensive area. Put some apps into SLC and Denver for those guys. But wasn't too keen on how they acted suspiciously about out-of-state applicants. Too many people staying for 1-2 years and then bouncing back down to whatever lower cost-of-living area they came from due to the large influx of techies driving rental costs up. But can anyone blame them?

As far as Kimrad goes, they're kind of a mixed bag as far as reputation goes and I'm not too sure about them. Might work out, might not.

Only reason I'm thinking of doing the 3.5 night/week job here in Clovis and the relay position in Amarillo, again, is due to the flexibility involved. I'm single and my income needs aren't all that great. So the more time I could get off for road trips and other personal fart-arounds, the better.

I'm just trying to stay away from all the strict, micromanaging, work-a-holic gigs at this point.

Ah ok, yeah Saia may not be a exact fit for you then for reasons you mentioned, systems is a commitment and one they expect you to be available for at all times, although they really don't run us on weekends much unless we ask for the work, Kimrad yeah I am glad you already have a good idea of them, I did a stint with them after CTI and then got on with Saia after that.

I hear it's pretty much the same as many, extra board things. Wait by the phone and head out when called. I still might give it some thought if they ever call back. If anything, just to get this pickup truck payment eliminated in short order.
As far as driver-facing cameras go over there, I guess I'll just have to leave the phone and everything at home. Load some 1-2 hour long ghost stories podcasts into the classic, push button IPod and plug in the audio jack. I mean, if it's just turns and terminal runs one does over there, I could survive without the phone.

Well if you are interested you may have to go old school and physically go to the terminal and see what's up, I think they have that 1 800 line for application status questions also, it will be picking up here soon and we will be busy again, systems may actually be a way of getting that truck payment knocked out in quick order also, I have ran into a AQE systems driver on occasion in Odessa, he pretty much covers the same turf as I do, but he goes to Denver alot more because of his location, out of AQE you will probably see alot of extra Denver, Lubbock, Odessa, Amarillo, Oklahoma City, El Paso,Phoenix by way of Flagstaff or a Holbrook turn maybe, possibly Tucson and El Paso runs, but not limited to would be my guess, I have ended up at terminals I never thought I would go to, been out a whole week on some occasions, and back home every two days on others, and sometimes cover a vacation home every day run.

I live out in Clovis right now and that's about as far I'm willing to relocate at the moment. MyMar transport, the 42 hour/week job I'm putting in for, is still milk hauling. But no loading of milk whatsoever. It's just glorified yard hostling with a kick back crew and owner. I figure the money from that, plus a 2-4 runs a month with the CTI outfit will keep me "in the black".

AQE? Is that still part of Saia?
