Yes. I'm seeing/experiencing that right now. In my very short time doing research, companies are 'starting" to bend and NOT require the full year or more experience before hiring a new grad. Of course the insurance industry is the major factor here.

I don't have a list of them. That's why I tell new drivers to apply to any company that interests them even if they think they don't qualify.

    Getting there:

Now, to answer the original question, Yes i DID work 6 days and i had to stay in the hotel 2 times this week.

So, no, it was not 5 days and home daily.

HOWEVER, It is getting close AND i know of road drivers, city drivers and jockeys who ARE grossing $2000 or more per week and are home everyday.

Now I definitely don't blame one of my former, tanker guys for jumping over to the feeder position. Even that net is still quite substantial.

I can't remember if i thanked your original post with this idea, but it has proved true over and over. Several places with 2 years in the ad made offers to me with less than one.

There is a good driver shortage bigtime. Someone who shows up and works is like gold right now.

Coastal and Western are the ones I've seen down there, other than some O/O outfits or ones out of Cochise County. The thing to do would be to hang out by the rack entrances in PHX and take names off cabs.

Even though I am good where I am at, I still like to hit up Indeed to see what the latest action is in Tucson, Jackson Energy is another one that's been popping up recently, DRPT was advertising regularly for a bit but not lately, and our good friends there in Rillito (I know they are bulk not fuel but I think it reinforces your driver shortage statement) are now offering apprenticeship programs, they never did that when we worked for them, I remember when it was two years required for that place! You know who else used to advertise heavy but I haven't seen their ads or their trucks for awhile now was a fuel outfit called Jenesco I think it was.

The rillito company was my first job out of school, they had paid training for doubles and semi that was funded by a grant from az chamber of commerce. They need to do that because on average they hire a new driver every weekday, which I calculated by employee numbers. At some point they ran out of drivers with no other choices. When I left they were having meetings about finding more second chancers to hire. Greg obviously knows what's going on and finds it cheaper to continue, esp if he's suckered the azcoc into giving him funding to do it.

I think DRPT has some of the Western runs now. Jackson's been looking for drivers out of Flag if you like high rent and chaining.

They were my first job also when I first moved to AZ in 2016, I picked them because the Curtiss terminal was close to where we moved to and they were hiring ,no surprise there, and coming from LTL I thought I would try something different, and different it was lol, it wasn't all bad, like I told you in that other thread, I liked the acid work out of Safford and it was good money doing that, I just remember at that time that their ads stated they wanted 2 years experience ,I had 18 years at that time so no issue, but you are right, what they say in the ad and what they actually do are two different things, Superior Carriers Benson terminal has something going on right now too, they had a ad that popped in my FB feed, they want drivers and O/Os there, just have got a big contract or something, but me I am staying at Saia as long as they will have me, their systems linehaul works perfect for me, I love it there.
