I got a dryvan so it was a little easier for me to get loads. Reefer is hard to get some loads like paper loads... you just gotta start calling brokers once you get on the boardClick to expand...

I live in Miami and heard a bunch of different things and more or less looking for a little advice on how to start getting my loads. My mc number is new and will be running under my own authority. Any info on best load boards or securing loads by myself? Or a good broker out there that can keep me moving? Or any good company to lease on to to start up? Itll be me and my cousin team driving.
Thanks in advance

I use DAT load board. This is where you find new brokers. Apply to the brokers who have your freight and a good credit score and days to pay. Stay away from brand new brokers. I suggest brokers with over 5 years.
Folks here are making it sound like getting brokers is very hard. Really? Yes, most brokers will say no, BUT you will certainly find brokers who will work with you even big brokers. I can guarantee you this. Make 10 calls, 2 brokers will say yes. Maybe 10 years ago it was tough to get brokers. Now, not at all. It’s just annoying making 50 calls.Last edited: Jan 29, 2019

If you are not I will explain what I said to that Angel.
Miami is a big PIA area to get work for you, no matter what you've been told, it is.
I recommend you shelve the authority idea, go up to Jacksonville and pay a visit to Landstar. Get some miles under your belt with them, learn their system and work with the agents who can get you work in and out of Florida. It is far easier to work with established people who will accept you as part of an organization than someone new.Aruiz1017 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -

I signed up with three just in case I want to go to another region to do local runs elsewhere with my customer.Click to expand...Tug Toy Thanks this.

Just keep calling on Loads. I’ve only been refused 2 times when new.Supposedly their pickier these days. When freight picks up it shouldn’t be a problem. Big brokers suck anyway. Good smaller Brokers need Guys like You. My guess is you’ll have more problems with them trying to get a hold of your Truck. I’ve had this problem myself. There’s no mystery to booking Loads. You made it this far, you’ll figure it out. Some things never change. I wish I had a nickel for every time I’ve heard “ you can’t do that” Lol. “ Only I am capable” Lol Get Real.
