2001 FLD 120 IN CABIN AIR FILTER LOCATION?

They don’t have an in cabin for the cab. It’s going to be an after market bolt on. Look on passenger side outside cowl, you’ll see a big square opening, that’s where you mount the square air filter. I use cheap green furnace filters cut to size. Or you can buy expensive ones at dealer. Bunk hvac unit has a similar sized intake on right side when your facing it. I cut a piece also to fit it.

 

Lol yeah it gets wet. Keeps it clean!! Advanced Freightliner design. Lol. That’s why I use the green solid fiberglass filters. The only other way I can think of would be take fan out and install a filter between it and the coils. On the bunk you’ll see an access plate with holes in it, that slides out for cleaning or inspection. In front of the plate are channels that hold the filter. Slide it in, in front of the plate. I’ll take a picture if you can’t figure it out.

 

In the old days cabin air is taken from god knows where.

I believe the engineers moved the intake for the cabin air up below the wipers partly for safety. It is very good to have filters up there where possible because in the SW among other places you might run into a dust storm, fire storm or other situations where it can compromise your cabin air.

 

Freightliner might have well just ran the blow by hose into it. My old Detroit looks like it’s on fire sometimes. Lol

 

Some of the older macks had the foot vents kick em open and there is your air conditoning. At 60 mph taking in everything that old two stroke poured out in terms of fumes etc. Good times.

 

That would be great if you could take a picture. My truck is in 95, I don't know if it's set up the same way.
