I used to live in seaside after I got out of the corps and never got the fascination with the chain as I personally thought the food sucked, like most other fast food places in my area. Didn't miss it when I moved back to the Carolinas but did miss having my weekend fix of el pollo loco and del taco.

There was a store not to far from the base called fatburgers that made an awesome burger, but mediocre fries and rings. Last time I was out in Cali I stopped at 1 and I guess my memories are just that as food was bad.

When pollo loco first started in the states, the food was very good. Menu was small, but solid.
Been quite awhile since been to one. Have seen a number of them open up around the house recently.

I've always been a burger lover and try a new burger any chance I get. I've tried in and out a few times and can't wrap my head around everyones love for it. Don't have anything bad to say about it and will probably eat there again but it was just an average burger..idk to each their own. Best burger I've had was at The Meeting Place inside Alta Station in Asbury, WV exit 161 off i64. Room for 10-12 trucks. Ate there once when my co driver pulled in and woke me up to eat with him when I first started driving. Took me a few years to figure out where it was again. Got their "smokestack" burger both times. A burger so good it will blow your mind.

Try In N Out like this "Double Double Animal style with hot peppers+pickles"
You'd probably enjoy Shake Shack's SmokeShack!

If you want a real good burger, try "T Joes " just outside if Cheyenne on I 80. Some the best beef I've ever had. It's next to Sapp Bros truck stop.

Oh man, I love T Joes. Never had a burger there i've always got a steak. Tied with the big texan as my favorite place to get one. I will definitely try a burger next time though.
