Hi. I'm looking to start working in yhe oil field with my cdl. I have no experience. I'm from the east coast so I'm willing to move, but not sure where. Where would I make the most money and get the most hours texas Oklahoma or new Mexico?? I feel like avoiding north Dakota. Too cold.
Also where I'm I most likely to get housing or live in a mancamp. Don't want to pay rent . so basically texas or Oklahoma is the best for money??

Thanks for the help God bless

You buy your own RV tow it to the oilfield, find a patch to park it. Pay monthly on the patch and utilites. Eventually you are buried in money that you can buy your house anywhere in the USA.

Oilfields are fantastic, but they endure good times and bad really quick and everything in between.

We are gas in Arkansas and I can tell if the rigs are busy by going past the fracking yard to see if it's full or empty on a workday.

Another problem is that it will get just as cold in OK or Texas if mother nature has a mind to.

Well, Texas has no state income tax so that's a plus. But what are you trying to do, work on a crew or drive by yourself?

If you went to a CDL school, there's crude oil companies that might hire you right off the bat.

You won't be last in line either. Their thinking is that they can train you from the start to do everything their way & turn you into a "company" man.

You can go on You Tube and watch the videos that drivers are posting on a daily basis. Most of these truckers have come up through the ranks as most of us have and are very honest about their experiences. You can watch HTown trucker or Chasin Andrew Jackson or Golden Child Trucker. All of these drivers are very honest about their everyday experiences and the ups and downs of the oilfield. All of these truckers are located in west Texas

I need hazmat for crude I'm pretty sure. I only have tanker endorsement right now. The whole hazmat endorsement process gave me a headache but maybe ill still get it. Would I find jobs hauling sand or water with no experience??

If you’re from the east coast check out PA and Ohio.. Halliburton, Schlumberger, some big ones that hire almost anyone with a CDL. I’m in ND and haul a flat. Have run sand too, it’s not bad. ND really isn’t as bad as you would think and there’s jobs everywhere... almost literally a now hiring on most corners lol.
