i bet it was directly from client ,had contract rate or had some special requirement , that is correct , you wont find it on load boards , but still find hard to belive at that rate , the client cant be that naive to move for that rate specially in florida

no , not stay away if it the load pays enough for the deadhead miles , i moved drivers 500-700 miles for deadhead before, and yes the load paid enough for that

Yes its direct freight. When your product is worth millions of dollars you don't want some random one man outfit from dat transporting it. No real special requirement. Tarp it with good tarps not torn up rags and show up when you say you will show up.

that's why the high rate , but this is not normal in florida , i had a driver in jacksonville ( he had a options from 1.5-1.6 a mile and did not choose it ) for 2 days , 98 % of rates range from 1-1.3a mile , dryvan as well , maybe even worse

It's not normal if you rely on load boards for freight. It's rather common when you don't. Florida is practically the headquarters for the aerospace industry.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not claiming i can get these rates all day every day, but more often than not in putting over 2 a mile freight on the truck to get me out of the house. On the other side of the coin, some guys make a killing in areas i can't buy a load.

so knock on shipper's door ask for load ? i there any other program than loadboards? you;ll be lucky finding a 2$ a mile coming from south florida amd i'm sure customers do research the market area before giving the load to the broker, some dont , but most do

Yes knock on doors and make phone calls. Be a salesman, after all that's all that trucking is. It's selling a service.

I might drive a truck but i am absolutely not a truck driver. Any dumb monkey can drive a truck. It requires an extremely limited amount of training and very little skill. It's the stuff you do when you are not driving a truck that determines if that truck makes money or not.

i can defenitely going to keep trying that ,i can tell you there are way too many trucks south florida with a limited amount of loads, you are very lucky in getting that rate , a 1.7 pm rate and i'll be gone in 1 sec., thanks for the advice. i can say since winter is bad in NE region , too many trucks down south so rate are lower than usual
