I am 110% naive to what matters when it comes to being a trucker and supporting a family...So, what do I need to look for? What laws/taxes/policies will hurt me/help me? Where do I go to learn more about all of this?
I only care about what helps my husband, what/who benefits him the most...Where do I even start? Any recommendations? Should I look into taxes?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Despite views, what helps ME?

You can start by picking up a current FMSCA regulation book and memorize all the regulations. I found that has helped me.

it would be helpful to describe your situation. Are you riding with him? Is he a company driver? Is he an owner operator and you are home booking loads?

www.OOIDA.com
and as a member, they have available lists of companies that can help you with filing taxes, etc. if you have a CPA, then go to that person, over say HR Block.. you want someone that has a regular office and office hours all year long.
many CPA's, are certified financial planners as well, that can help you set up a retirement account.
again, the OOIDA has access to these people/companies as well...jdsolelady and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
