I had a huge fight with my dad when I told him I'm going in to trucking. I was 22 at the time. His reason for not wanting me to go trucking was, "it'd be kinda hard to be a Christian while being a trucker'. It still riles me to this day when I think about it.
All my friends thought I was stupid and gave me no support but they all had nothing to say when 2 years later I had 27 G saved up for a downpayment on my first house and they were all still living paycheck to paycheck.
You learn to live with all that negativity and believe me you will find a lot of negative drivers to.
It's been 8 years now and me and my Dad have learned to just not talk about some of the things we disagree on.

Welcome to the Club. Most have no idea what’s all involved. Only stereo types.Theyll figure it out, when they’re unemployed and struggling. Marry a Nurse. They seem to have a soft spot for Truckers, Lol, When all goes down its Truckdrivers and nurses who still have jobs that are in demand.

One good thing about all the negative posts you make is that it gives people another way of looking at things
That being said, it wouldn't hurt you to look at the bright side of things every once in awhile and post something positive and encouraging.;)

LOL! When I essentially forced into trucking by financial circumstances 10 years ago, a lot of my wife's friends warned her about all the "lot lizards" out there and how it would be really "tempting" for me! ;-)

I've never even seen a "lot lizard", except a couple of times in Arizona, you know, the reptile kind.

One must not think too much of another person if they think the urge to bang a dirty prostitute is present and irresistible LOL

People that have never driven a CMV or ever been employed in this industry have no idea what they are talking about. All they can do is repeat things they have heard. As far as people that have/are driving just think about this. If they are just putting everything down and using general statements it means you have come across a grumpy cynic. However, if you hear someone using clear specific terms and names I would give their comments a lot of weight.

What I have tried to do is provide the person the information I know. If I know somebody at that carrier I will try to connect them. The last thing I do is tell them to call me BEFORE they start digging those holes. Sometimes it doesn't work out and they leave the business. Most times they stay 5 years or more.

Nobody cares to always be around a depressed always negative person. For me, this is particularly true with cynics.

Lol, I've seen quite a few of them over the years and even as a single guy I was never tempted by them, I would've rather stuck my ding dong in a meat grinder then them. Except for one classy lady in Ontario, gorgeous lady! But... I'm kinda stingy with my money to

Yep, for 8 years I let people talk me out of it. When I finally stopped caring what other people thought, got my CDL and went OTR, I realized pretty quickly that I should have listened to them...
