You would only do things like that if you know a blizzard or something is coming where it would cause truckers to stop driving so that way you start moving ahead of time
Recaps, 34 hr reset and the 70 hour limit?

I'd start at 3am and get through Chicago... take the longer break on 2nd stretch of the load... what happens if you have a tire issue or whatever and you've already wasted a bunch of time on the front end of the load? Call and reschedule? I rather deal with it and reduce chance of rescheduling. Customer doesn't want to hear any of that crap. Just do what you promised.

I just gotta wait to get to school then get out there and do it. For now I’ve just been researching and things are more confusing just reading about them.
I’ve heard things like how you can have 90 hours on duty and 70 driving. That’s what makes things even more confusing. You can’t drive more than 70 hours but both driving and on duty count towards 70 however you can go past 70 for on duty onlyLast edited: Feb 6, 2019

Hours of service only says when you can (or cannot) drive. You can be on duty as long as you want.

In theory you could lift boxes for say 70 hours straight. You'd then have used up your 70 hour clock and would then therefore need a 34 hour break before being eligible to drive any cmv. -

In theory maxing out your hours every shift will allow you to earn more. In practice I find that it ends up being close to the same at the end of the quarter. -
On duty means anything work related aside from driving. It doesn't matter if your company pays you detention say if you have a 4 hour unload. If you are legitimately in the sleeper waiting, you can log sleeper.Dan.S Thanks this. -
I also hate changing appointments. Unprofessional in my mind.
