When changing fuel filter, do you reuse the diesel drained?

I know you been doing it for awhile just have millions of other people. And I’m sure your aware that the secondary is the last resort into the fuel injectors. So just be mindful brotha

I think it has cleaning agents in it and lubricates in it.? Never used it myself..but have known some that do.

I toss it into the 500 gal tank I use for my farm tractor. Trucks old enough in the past I used to just drop it back in tanks. It wasn't eniugh to worry me once it mixed in with existing fuel.

Priming can take half a day on some engines. I prefer to fill with clean filtered fuel. I also clean the filter housing and area around it very thoroughly to lower the risk of any dirt or debris falling inside.

The secondary filter is usually a water separator and will be on the suction side (usually). The primary will be the final filter before the injectors. Most manufacturers recommend not pre filling, depending on what I'm dealing with determines whether I do or not. Clean fuel from a clean jug isn't gonna hurt. You can transfer water pretty easily out of the old filter.

2 stroke engine oil is a little better for one than ATF, it's made to burn and doesn't leave the deposits on injector tips like ATF will.

I've heard about using 2 stroke oil as a fuel additive just for extra lube for those injectors. What are your thoughts on this?

Back in the day we would put our old oil into the fuel tanks after an oil change. I would never even consider that in a semi modern engine but those old v8s didn't seem to mind.

I'm a believer, honestly. I am not big on any fuel treatment or mechanic in a can unless it's a cold weather necessity. Since I started using 2 stroke oil I don't load up in the cylinder on a real cold start with my B model. Before anything below 20 or so and the nozzles would load 1 or 2 cylinders up every morning. My fuel shop says it's the low sulfur fuel not having enough lubricant to it. I may be wasting money but it does seem to help. I buy it by the gallon at Walmart, the only draw back is having to put howes in too if I get off the reservation.

Yep. They did lubricity studies on all the top injector cleaners/cetane boosters like Howe’s, Lucas, etc. Number 1 was a product called Opti Lube, number 2 was good old Walmart TCW3 ashless 2 stroke motor oil. I’ve run it on a series 60 and could tell the injectors were quieter.
