Has anyone ever installed a Galaxy 98 VHP in a T680? I know it has to run to the battery, which isnt an issue with me, but how was the power cable ran and mounted? I've only seen one person with one, and that was on a YouTube video. It's been collecting dust in the closet and I want to get it back in the truck again.

Negative power lead CANNOT go to the battery. Must go to engine ground.

Yes, why? Inquiring minds want to know.
snowman_w900 and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Battery-sensing by truck computers. See the guru for best description (www.K0BG.com).

The chassis-Ground versus the batt post is my choice.
And why take a risk?
Use of BLUE SEA Termination Fuses makes it easy. Do the run with ANCOR Duplex in appropriate gauge.
-
What risk?
i am puzzled.
Most trucks are not like cars, there is no eld or other sensors between the grounds and the batteries, unlike cars and pickups. Also there are four to six power points for the ecm, which are fed by one or two segments of the power cable feeding off of the batteries. The only remotely possibility is the remote sensing from the alternator which does not need to be isolated from any large power draw.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Batteries being measured across themselves.
Your latest trucks using a separate set of house batteries as APU? This 579 is. What controls Auto-Start has complications. That thought is enough to stop me.
I’m welcome to be wrong, but change to engine ground isn’t really a burden. (Not the same as BATT ground).
Those terminating fuses shown aren’t hard to use. Meaning, cut wire to length. No fuse splicing needed.
If others with this type APU are okay, I might re-think it (prefer shortest). But don’t want to be “first” in this category of problem.
(I moved into a brand-new 579 this past week. Experiments on “how to” now relegated to past (the 2015 i was in).
