Do not volunteer information that they would otherwise be unable to find out otherwise. They all seem to have one thing in common when you go to a company's orientation, they are looking for reasons to get rid of you. There was a guy that posted on here a few weeks back that said one of the companies sent him home when he told them he took ritalin as a child. That's how ridiculous they are getting.

I wouldn't say that. A job is a job. Options for folks with no experience are pretty thin these days. Even in the best of economic times, pretty much all the companies that took on students were awful people to work for. You got to start somewhere.

good luck during your training. i started with Arrow back in 2000. Went to school at Central Tech. My trainer at Arrow said I was good to go after only 2 weeks, so I got my own truck pretty quick. I think you will enjoy working for Arrow. They got me home when I asked. They even routed me to see my parents. Just know that you are going to have some bad days. Arrow always treated me good and I worked hard for them. The only reason I ever left was because I had a better opportunity to haul hazmat/tanker for a smaller outfit in Oklahoma.
If you have the right attitude and want Arrow to be a good experience, it will be. Just like every other company, your going to run into problems. But you will also have alot of good days.
    Good luck and be safe.

:biggrin_25510:I totally agree, avoid them but sounds like were to late to save you so you will have to save yourself.:biggrin_2551: Arrow will get you plenty of windshield time( in the truck stop) and the $$$, well you will be spending your own money waiting for loads. Whatever you do, stay away from their regional division. You get paid % and there will be an over abundance od empty miles.:biggrin_2552:

If possible as stated before ... avoid regional at all costs. I have a buddy thats just trying to get a year in so that he can hire on with a better carrier. Percentage based regional he is averaging around 22 cents a mile ... loaded. With all the non paid dead head, its closer to 14. This guy is in his 40s, is bright, and really doesnt get messed with ... arrow just sucks.

When he was OTR life was better, but he was never home ... and still made less than somebody workin at Mickey D's

Watch your pay, and try not to break down ... from my second hand knowledge you can wait up to a day to get a tire paid for when under load. It took him 3 days to get batteries paid for, and was stuck in Tulsa for a week for some minor repairs that should have only taken a few hours

Sorry to be a bearer of bad news .... I wish you the best of luck

    They pretty much suck ###...........
Everyone there was really nice, superficially anyway.
I get to Tulsa on Sunday as scheduled, start orientation on monday.
Physicals, paperwork, and road tests are the order of the day.
There are close to 75 people there for orientation..................
I'm like WTF they got this many openings??? something don't smell right,
but i'm already here so let's do this.
They check my blood pressure it's 186/102.
WTF??? My blood pressure has never ever been that high, I tell the lady this, so she checks it again, Ahh 126/88 thats more like it for me.
Others were not so lucky, 8 people sent home because of Blood pressure problems.
    Geez this is scary
Okay on to the road test.
I thought i did ok actually, alley docking went ok, Oops caught 2 curbs during the test, but no other problems really, evaluator says we will talk about it next week, if you improve you get a trainer on friday.

Okay great!! End of day one no biggie, but still can't figure out what they are gonna do with all these people. Not my business anyway.

    Tuesday: (today) day # 2
We go into class, start with more paper work,
some guy comes in, calls my name Uh Ohh what's up??
I told them up front about my felony 11 years ago they still brought me in
    did they change their minds???
Well this guy takes me into an office and tells me" well you know the road test did'nt go well, we think you need another 8 weeks of training, and we just can't do it here" so we are sending you home.............................
My jaw is on the floor, i'm like WTF are u talking about???
I drove the truck dude, don't believe me?? let's go do a road test now...
nope, we saftey manager says we can't do that either. I'm like whatever dude, you the employer, but i tell you what, i am not up for anoher 36 hour bus ride, I will just buy an airline ticket and fly home, can you buy the ticket and i will give you cash to make up the difference in the price between the bus and airline ticket? (holding out 3 $100 bills i had stashed in my wallet in case of emergency) nope... we can't do that either, but we can give you the bus ticket. so i take their bus ticket, go to the hotel call a cab $37 to get to the airport, $149 for the flight back to vegas, they paid $173 for the bus WTF??

Whatever i am home now, and will never ever, do that again.

    Arrow sucks

    Ohh BTW
the guy who road tested after me stalled the dammed truck 3 times in traffic, and he's still there..........
    WTF whatever......

Sorry to hear that they sent you home, but most companies view hitting a curb or a cone during training as an accident.
