It could be a dropped liner. Key word is could. Honestly its likely, but let's rule out all the easy and cheap stuff first. To many mechanics get tunnel vision. They get an idea and theur brain focuses on it over looking everything else. Im guilty of this at times to.

Get that oil sample done and go from there.

Ok i will, checked coolant lvl this morning, did add 1/4 or less of a gallon to bring it up to max cold ( this is the second time I'm putting this amount of coolant in 57.000 miles period)

I had a very similar issue. If it was cold outside, I could fill the parking lot with smoke and it would smoke all day. A good friend recommended an injector cleaner and after running 4 gals, truck hasn't smoked since. (It's been a week) The truck sat for 4 days over the weekend and I was sure it was going to smoke like crazy, but barely anything. Just food for thought, but you might want to try 2 bottles.

LOL. That was my truck last weekend before I ran the cleaner through. It's not cheap, like $30/ bottle and I ran one in each tank. But I'm not losing coolant and I go through a gal oil every 20,000. But I also had a compressor leaking oil.

If its not below certain temperature like 25 degrees i would only have light smoke till water temperature starts to rise and i would not smoke down the road. And I'm not using any oil between services

I don't want to alarm you just stating this as a possibility. It's one possibility of dozens.

My ddec iv was doing that on cold mornings and it ended up being a bad valve job from the machine shop i had redo the head.

I had the smoke even be
Honestly i don't know what to say, i had that smoke even before they replaced the head. Today i only had light smoke first 10min and then no smoke all day. Im due for oil change in week or two so then I'll do the oil sample too.

Waiting on oil samples results... I saw a black ( oil?) stain on the top of my exhaust pipe, this morning, like a spit up. I hope the new o rings are not bad.
