Thank you for your insight. I believe you’ve answered enough of the basics to peak my interest a little more. I got a phone call this morning from Effingham from a lady asking me if I would be available tomorrow at 11am for a phone interview, just as I was getting ready to leave after 5 days home. I’ll give the recruiting department credit, I filled the online app out 12 hours earlier not really expecting to hear anything that quick. My priblem? I hate this process, I tend to stay around at my jobs for a while. My resume has just 2 jobs on it the last 10 years, 5 total the last 26. After the interview tomorrow, if you don’t mind, I will PM you and maybe pick your brain. Again, thank you.

Man, I can't believe I forgot to mention the best part of working here. They paid me over 6k last year to sit at home which, coincidentally, is my very favorite part of trucking.

I'm not surprised at them jumping on you that quickly. There's just too much work. They really want CTS trucks at the stores and there just isn't enough of us. I don't know how many times I'd roll into a store this past summer and I was the first CTS they'd seen in weeks. With 40 years safe driving, they'd loooove to bring you on. For me, it's the single best decision I've made and I don't like changing jobs either.

Can you explain this part please? How did this happen? Are you on salary, or are you talking all the holidays and vacation days and stuff of that nature?

    Longarm Thanks this.

Yep. 24 paid days off between personal vacation and holidays.

You could probably work through the holidays if you wanted but then I'd think you were a little touched.

Good lord! That’s amazing. I did some research I’m in KC looks like the closest “hub” they hiring out of is Wichita. So that’s a bummer. But good for you dude, I been weighing different options of trying to get into something different and it’s so frustrating. There’s SOOO many horrible companies out there, when you find one you gotta hold on to it like grim death. And it looks like you found one. Thanks for the response btw.

I'm no where near a "hub". Most drivers are no where near a hub. We have stores in all 48. The midwest fleet just picked up a ton of stores in MO and KS. If you have at least 2 years exp, don't drive into fixed objects and can handle some fairly challenging driving at times, apply regardless of what the website says. There are better paying jobs out there but I really like working for a paint store.

It all sounds great, and I thank you for taking time to share it with me. As for my phone interview, it never happened. I was asked if it could be done today at 11. Of course I said yes. I never got the phone call. I took my 30 minute break waiting for it. When it didn’t happen I called in to recruiting which was her cell phone. I left a message for her and didn’t get a return call. I’ll try calling again tomorrow. I’m sure I’m not the only one she is dealing with, and in her defense, it’s quite possible she wasn’t even in today. Tomorrow is another day. Thanks again for you insight.
